New Moon in Pisces - February 23, 2020

Merging with the Collective Unconscious
New Moon 4º 29' Pisces

This New Moon in Pisces taints this moon cycle with confusion and deception unless you're well anchored in a wise and mindful spiritual practice. Its energy will take all of us deeply in contact with the collective unconscious. This is a new beginning that promises to present some challenges to the reasonable folk. Aspects on several fronts lend their dose of diffusive energy that gives us a sense of merging with the collective unconsciousness, or with the spiritual realm.

Mercury is retrograde in Pisces, a Sign that robs him of his wit and cleverness. Here, he's friend of creative writers, novelists, play and movie writers, poets, and inspirational speakers. But if you are calculating your taxes, better wait until mid March when he turns direct. Electronic devices will have the hiccups, communications and information media will be confusing, inaccurate, inexact, deceptive, and you'll be prone to misunderstandings in your conversations. You may have delays or detours in your commute, and issues with your siblings or neighbors. Be especially careful not to have any liquids near your laptop or phone! This is like having the messenger (Mercury) talking backwards (Retrograde) underwater in the ocean (Pisces) !

Before GPS technology, lighthouses where the reliable points of reference when navigating the Ocean, that helped ships arrive safely to land. Similarly, during this Lunar Cycle, you will need reliable points of reference, because your mind and your discernment ability are baffled.  Not only is Mercury retrograde, but in Pisces, the Sign of intuition, telepathy, spirituality, unconditional love, and yes, also obnubilation. Your thinking is very far from logical and reasonable. However, you may know something without understanding how you know it, but you are certain of it. This month we have the opportunity to tap into our human common sense, the higher wisdom, also called sixth sense by the Ancient philosophers.

To make this ethereal intangible energy even stronger, since February 20th Jupiter is sextile Neptune adding a higher degree of spirituality. Even though Jupiter and Neptune are a beautiful influence that can make us aware of the higher levels of reality, show us a global perspective of things, inspire our creativity, it also increases the tendency to escape the physical reality through the imagination and hope, to dwell in addictions or become more fanatically religious. Musicians, and all kinds of artists are happy to tap into this energy though, and they may produce fascinating pieces of art. Psychic and healers rejoice as well, because their abilities are enhanced. However, a word of caution: exercise discernment.

Why? Because three days later, today, February 23th, Jupiter squares Venus in Aries, expanding the desire for and self-indulgence in religious, philosophical, or spiritual social activities. You may fall in love with a very spiritual person. This square increases the tendency to 'people-pleasing' behavior, financial exuberance for self-satisfaction (i.e. overspending to gain popularity). You may feel impelled to get what you want, now! and with grandeur!  Beware of disproportionate ambition that after 'climbing the mountain', can throw you back down with a big crash.

The Sun and Moon are at the midpoint between Uranus and Mars.  Here, we need to stop and talk some more about Mars, because he's the most active planet in the chart, making several aspects at the same time.  Mars conjuncts the South Node of the Moon, sextile the Moon, trine Uranus, square Chiron and biseptile Venus. You can expect a lot of decisive, assertive -if not aggressive- action out in the world during this new moon cycle. From Capricorn you will have the tendency to do traditional things the old way, taking your time, with great ambition. Yet, with Uranus influence you add also an eccentric approach to take sudden, strange or unconventional actions, thinking about the future, especially ensuring your freedom and independence. You will find different ways to initiate projects, follow procedures or carry through with your work.

However, those impulsive eccentric actions may be based on your imagined scenarios, fantasy, illusions... or plain delusion (Pisces Sun Moon at midpoint)! Unless, you are highly spiritually developed like a Buddhist devotee who always chooses to act for the benefit of all affected.

AND Mars activates again the December 26 Solar Eclipse at 4º Capricorn, giving a boost of initiative, and action to the issue, situation or event that took place around that time. In fact, Mars activates the entire December-January Moon Cycle with a blast. During that cycle, the historical Saturn Pluto conjunction took place as well. It was the time when the entire world was threatened by a spark of War, and the coronavirus also started to spread. What will Mars, the Lord of War, bring this time?

The maverick spirit may bruise your sense of self worth (Chiron in Aries) as well, realizing that choosing differently, you may not fit with the crowd anymore and find yourself excluded somehow.  You need to make sure that you want to embrace also the consequences of your unusual or bizarre behaviour or actions. Mars is Chiron's dispositor (ruler of Aries)and they are not on the same page, in fact, they are bumping into each other. Your actions will poke your vulnerability, your wounded sense of identity.

Plus, having Venus in Aries, your love relationships and your finances receive a subtle challenge from its waxing biseptile to Mars. Of course, it depends which house they are transiting for you. But, your desires and your impulses are karmically linked, deeply affecting your emotional foundation, probably your family and home life.

Just two days ago, February 21, Chiron square the Nodal Axis with Mars conjunct South Node means that whatever wounding or healing taking place can either bring you back to the old behaviour patterns or throw you forward to a new way of being, more healthful, nourishing and comfortable. Your choice!

This month, just be creative, and you will do fine! Sat Nam.

Full Moon in Leo - February 8-9, 2020

Show Your Creative Power

This Full Moon, the Sun in Aquarius opposes the Moon in Leo. The Moon is also in her perigee (closer) with respect to the Earth. Not  only does the Moon awaken demonstrative dramatic emotions, but those can really become critical if not tragic because of her closeness to the Earth. Super Moons appear really big in the night sky and bring such a strong energy pull that they may cause crises and violent events.

This kind of Lunation has the potential to intensify emotions to a point where you lose control and act impulsively even tragically blinded by them. People can take extreme measures, or actions that are unlike themselves, and turn out impossible to reverse. Stay calm, meditate, take time to reflect, breathe deeply before acting.

The Sun Moon opposition means some kind of 'culmination', acknowledgment, definite realization that can overwhelm or upset you in a way that you don't feel in control anymore. This energy may have different outlets. The collective consciousness that the Sun illuminates in Aquarius can be expressed in a dramatic way by the masses symbolized by the Moon in Leo.

In your personal life, this energy will probably be reflected in your significant relationships. You and your partner may need to find a balance between achieving goals and enjoying the moment, between committing and keeping your independence. Both Aquarius and Leo are fixed signs, which makes confrontations between partners very difficult to reconcile because they are both stubborn, and have a hard time changing things.

However, the Full Moon in Leo is also festive, full of natural vitality and youthful creativity. This weekend is a good time to add more joy to your life, sharing moments with a group of friends, going to a restaurant, or playing guitar and singing new songs.

The Moon trines Sagittarius Mars

Mars in Sagittarius adds his dose of fire to the chart exaggerating the passionate displays of the Lion's emotions. Mars gives the drive necessary to creatively express the heartfelt demonstrations of affection that the Moon in Leo generously wants to show. In order to say what your heart wants, you will feel the impulse to do something impressive, exciting, maybe exaggerated. Whatever Leo does is never small, but distinctive, magnificent, and noticeable.

Venus joins Chiron in Aries

This conjunction closes the cycle that Venus started in April 2019.  Do you remember a significant social, love or financial event or situation? Now, you're probably giving it closure, finally understanding, accepting and assimilating the implications, the 'lesson'. From now on, a new situation with the same theme starts for another round of learning. If you didn't get it then, this is a new opportunity, if you did get it, then this can be a deepening of the process. Venus conjunct Chiron will present a new opportunity to take the same theme to a higher level of personal development.

Mercury in Pisces

Mercury in Pisces means that your mind is not crystal clear, but kind of foggy. You're more prone to fantasy thinking. Mercury is in detriment in Pisces, which means that your mind has to work harder to find logic and reason. You’re more intuitive, imaginative instead. It’s a good transit for creative writing, to compose music, write a play or a movie script, poetry, short stories, novels, etc. Writers will be in their element!

Mercury entered the retrograde shadow (degree section where he travels back and forth) on February 2d. This means that all Mercury related affairs dealt from that point until the 16th when he turns retrograde, are up for review, reconsideration and probably rewriting. If you plan a trip, buy an electronic device, make a business deal, or have an issue with your sibling, it’s not definitive. If you don’t have a choice but sign a contract or make a big purchase, make sure you read carefully, ask all the pertinent questions, clarify all doubts. Listen to the soft voice of intuition, tune in to that sixth sense that knows without understanding why.

On the negative note, Mercury in Pisces is associated with delusions, confusion, lies, deceiving information, fake news, and creative realities that make believe but are far from the truth. You need to be careful, because Mercury will stay in Pisces until near the end of March because of its retrograde period.

Don't be surprised if you are in limbo, trying to figure out what’s going on, because Pisces is very spiritual, but can also be 'cloudy'. Not all conversation, speeches, messages you hear, receive, or participate in is clear and logical. In fact, most of the communication activity is kind of murky, based on fantasy, imaginative, confusing and probably deceitful. The Internet and the electronic devices may malfunction as well.

Enjoy the magnanimous, generous, magnificent, playful, cheerful, grandiose Full Moon in Leo!

Chiron in February 2020 - Struggle for Worthiness

Chiron and Lilith
The Struggle to Feel Worthy

Chiron in Aries

As Aries is the first Sign of the Zodiac, it signifies the birth, the rising of the Soul into the physical form. Aries is the first impulse of life, your body, and in particular, the head, which is the first appearing in the birth canal. Chiron in Aries, makes us feel that our self-image we show to the world, the persona, the identity, first impressions, the attitude, appearance, self-awareness, and your response (reflection) to the environment are impaired or inadequate.

There is a deep anguish from feeling that one's existence, actions and desires are not acceptable.  Consequently, one may feel unworthy, not able to fit in, may lack assertiveness or be too much assertive to compensate, may fear self-expression, may have an unconscious tendency to hurt oneself (especially the head). Deeply inside, one may feel that has no right to exist, and try to be invisible, or on the other hand spend all the energy trying to prove that one exists, with a "please, look at me" attitude. It can also manifest as unconscious mirroring of the 'other', projecting the wound on them. From that mindset of insecurity, one can fear assertion, may act too soon or too late, do things on one's own instead of asking when help is needed.

Black Moon Lilith in Aries

The Black Moon Lilith is the energetic geometrical point that has an orbit of 8 years and 10 months.  Lilith is associated with the Myth of Inanna of the Ancient Sumeria, or Persephone of the Greeks. Lilith in Mythology has also been associated with the first wife of Adam (Alphabet of Ben Sirach). She represents the angered feminine who rebelled against the attempt of male dominance. Buried in our psyche, is the rebellion against the physical incarnation (Saturn) that requires division, opposition and separation from the Source of Everything, and imposes submission of the creative power (mother, Cancer) to the designs of the organizing power in the tangible world (Capricorn).

Inanna Sumerian Goddess
Her 'darkness' is associated with the beginning of life in the enclosed space of the 'womb'.  It is in that origin that are buried our deepest traumas, where is hidden the unconscious part of our psyche, what Carl Jung called 'the shadow'. The dormant shadow or the psyche is the source and drive of our reactions, attractions, desires, choices, decisions, especially those that feed our self-sabotage, and self-defeating behaviour.  It is only when we have a Lilith transit, when we plunge in that dark space of our nature, and bring out the fear or the anger profoundly buried, that we are able to redeem ourselves with the light. Only in darkness, do we understand the light.

The entire month, Black Moon Lilith is within just one degree of Chiron, only to conjoin him in March. The Black Moon Lilith in Aries only aggravates the Chironic 'wound' of our existence. Together this month, they will trigger a psychological rebellion against our vulnerable condition. In different ways, you may fear or be angry because you feel unworthy, not enough. You may question your own value, merit, self-esteem. You may have a tendency to compare yourself, or your achievements with the success of others. Events or circumstances will make you come face-to-face with your own identity, assess your level of acceptance of yourself, no matter what other people tell you about it.

Fill yourself with the radiance of your own being. Any comparison will always make you feel more or less than others. But Black Moon Lilith and Chiron this month are inviting us to find our own light at the very core of our Self. You are unique, your life is of your own design, and good enough to fulfill your life purpose. Be brave, be you!

February 3 - Moon sextile Chiron

The Moon soft aspects to Chiron are opportunities to sooth the wound. Please read more in depth significations about the Moon phases in relation to Chiron. February 11th, the Moon opposes, on the 16th she trines, and on the 25th Moon conjoins Chiron.

February 6 - Sun waning semi-square Chiron

The Sun gives you the last push to help you integrate the expression of your core essence in spite of the perceived vulnerability, inadequacies, and impaired self-esteem. In the Myth of Chiron, the Sun God, Apollo, was the one who adopted him, redeemed him from his castaway condition. Apollo instilled confidence and optimism in Chiron by teaching him all the sciences of his time, that Chiron later used for healing.

Therefore, even the hard contacts with the Sun, are always a healing balm. As the Sun is about to close the cycle that started last year around the end of March, today you may have to go over the last bump in the learning process. An event, another person, a man, boss, or a father figure may challenge you again to integrate your woundedness. Remember Rumi, "I said: Pain and sorrow.
He said: Stay with it. The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” It is through the wound that we heal.

February 10 - Venus conjunct Chiron

This conjunction closes the cycle that Venus started in April 2019.  Do you remember a significant social, love or financial event or situation? Now, you're probably giving it closure, finally understanding, accepting and assimilating the implications, the 'lesson'. From now on, a new situation with the same theme starts for another round of learning. If you didn't get it then, this is a new opportunity, if you did get it, then this can be a deepening of the process. Venus and Chiron will present a new opportunity to take the same theme to a higher level of personal development.

As Jeremy Neals, Astrologer, says "True love cannot be made without Chiron".

Love in human life is as necessary as food and water. Babies cannot survive without it. Adults only survive without it. Whether we have a partner or family to love, Love is an essential part of human life. If alone, you have to learn how to provide it for yourself. If in relationships, we have to learn have to give it and receive it.

The wound that Chiron represents in your Natal Chart shows you the place where we most need TLC. For example, if it falls in the first house, your challenge is to learn how to love yourself, imperfections, shortcomings and all. If it falls in the seventh, your challenge is to learn how to choose an appropriate partner, or relate to another human being in a balanced way. When we relate to others, all areas of life are involved, especially the ones that hurt. Soon enough, do you realize that they need to be included as well.

The vulnerable areas -Chiron transiting Aries, are the hardest to manage in a relationship. Because we don't know how to heal, at first, we project the wound onto the partner, and they do the same onto us. We try to heal or fix each other. Venus visiting your natal Chiron -or the transiting Chiron in this case, is a balsamic relief. It helps us sooth the rawness of the wound, care for it, treat it with compassion, understanding, patience. Even though, Venus is not the unconditional love Neptune can give us, we can get a glimpse of what true love may be.

Venus can show us, though, that we all hurt for a valid reason, consciously or unconsciously. We all are broken one way or another, and paradoxically, still whole. When we remember this with compassion, we can then establish a harmonious and balanced love exchange, where both parties receive what they need. However, the whole process only starts within ourselves, when we understand that we are lovable in spite of our faults, when we look in the mirror and say to ourselves 'I love you' sincerely, with all our own heart. Then, we are ready to love the 'other'.

February 15 - Uranus semisextile Chiron

February 21 - Mars in Capricorn square Chiron in Aries

As soon as Mars enters Capricorn on February 16, where he is exalted, our vulnerability will be exacerbated. In the collective, events and situations will menace our very existence. Either, natural catastrophes, the cloud of sickness, or the threat of war can put people in danger. Because the actions of human beings have disturbed the natural ecological balance of our planet, the fury of the elements can fall upon all forms of life. Since the Mars opposition to Chiron on October 8th, 2019, fires have ravaged huge extensions of land. Mars is associated with fire, fevers, illness, pests, violence and war. Chiron is associated with the wound of our very existence. Learn more about Mars square Chiron.

In our personal lives, situations of anger or aggression, become the trigger we need in order to understand the true dimension of our human fragility, vulnerability. We will be challenged to assume the vulnerability, to identify that we are not omnipotent, that not being in control is part of our nature.  If we are to survive, we may need to respect our personal fragility, and recognize that is up to us to protect it. In which way the actions of others or your own actions sabotage your own identity, existence, and ultimately your own life? The motto of this aspect is 'my life matters'. The question Chiron ask to Mars is 'can I do it?'.

Conclusion

In February, Chiron takes us to the depths of the underworld in order to rise up, to awake to the light of truth, to realize the dimension of the primordial wound of being. Those who will be more affected by Chiron this month are the individuals who have natal Chiron in Aries or in the First Zodiac house, or Lilith in Aries or in the First House, or natal planets around the first degrees of Aries, or the other Cardinal Signs (Cancer, Libra, Capricorn).
Ultimately, we are to learn who we are and how to fulfill the purpose of our own existence.

Wishing you the best, much love! Sat Nam.
