Lunar Eclipse 0º Leo- January 20-21, 2019

Please visit the Astronomy of it for information on visibility in your geographic location, duration, and an interactive model HERE.

The Total Lunar Eclipse forms a T-Square: Sun in Aquarius 0º51'; Moon in Leo 0º51'; opposite Uranus in Aries 28º41'. This is a challenging configuration of tension that requires something to give. Uranus is the planet of rebellion, sudden shocks, explosions, liberation, unexpected insight, flashes of comprehension, Higher Knowledge and thinking, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, fires, sudden assaults and yes! Revolution.

The Lunar Nodal Axis represents the need to balance Capricorn and Cancer themes. Capricorn themes are social structures and conventions, government institutions, public conventions, regulations, limitations, borders, discipline, restrictions, karma, fear, the use of time, masculine projective energy, the patriarchy, and yes! Walls.
Cancer themes are around safety, security, protection, nurturing, home comfort, shelter, family, mothering, feminine receptive energy, emotional body, feeding and clothing the children, the needy and hungry.

However, the eclipse happens outside of the Nodal Axis Signs, in the polarity of Leo Aquarius. This eclipse is the culmination of the collective -and personal- consciousness evolution that started 10 February 2017 when we had the first Lunar Eclipse in the Leo Aquarius Lunar Nodes axis with the Luminaries at 22º28'. Do you remember the magical mystic rectangle it formed with Uranus in Aries and Jupiter in Libra, plus the Grand Trine Moon Uranus Saturn? The Leo Aquarius Eclipse season started then with a bang! You can see it in the chart below.

Sebian Symbols in this eclipse by Dane Rudhyar

1º Leo: Blood rushes to a man's head as his vital energies are mobilized under the spur of ambition. An interruption of bio-psychic energies into the ego-controlled field of consciousness.

1º Aquarius: An old adobe mission in California. The power inherent in all great human works to endure far beyond the workers spans.

28º Aries: A large audience confronts the performer who disappointed its expectations. Responsibility for what's one's actions will produce in people who have been made to expect significant results.

Leo shines, illuminates; Aquarius enlightens, awakens

During the past two years, Humanity has been called to find a balance between the themes of Leo and Aquarius. With the North Node (Rahu) in Leo, ruled by the Sun, people realized the importance of developing the individual consciousness, taking a generous and passionate leadership, and practicing the nobility of integrity. We've found our own authority and the center stage to pursue the personal creative goals. All the Leo themes took relevance: love, generosity, joy, sports, admiration for authenticity and the nobility of being.
With the South Node (Ketu) in Aquarius, people were awakened to the wrongs of group divisions, in fact to the negative outcomes of people's division in general. We pulled away from alliances, and like-minded associations that were obsolete or decadent. We realized that certain groups' common purpose or cause was not aligned with the positive evolution of humanity as a whole that Aquarius seeks.
There was a need to balance that polarity, looking for a compassionate leadership that would take in charge the causes of humanity as a whole, without divisions of any kind, and for the benefit of all as One.

To find more information about the collective implications of this polarity visit my previous blog post called "The Leo-Aquarius Lunar Nodal Axis 2017-2018". I also wrote the personal implications of the Leo Aquarius Nodal Axis polarity in this Blog Post. Check them out to see how it has worked out in your life, and in your social political and institutional environment.

Shaken by a thunderbolt

The Sun in opposition to the Moon as in every Full Moon, demands negotiation and compromise in the relationship between the heart and the mind, between the ego and the Higher Self, between the feminine and the masculine archetypes, between the give and take, between the yin and yang energies,  the projective and protective energies. This time, the Moon in Leo is stronger then the Sun in Aquarius, but they are both stubborn! She is passionately seeking joy and wants to share it with everybody, while he is detached, aloof, preoccupied with the wellbeing of the collective, and afraid of loosing his freedom.

We may have been dealing with this antagonism for the two-year period, but if we weren't able to compromise and rebalance our relationships, now, Uranus, the Lord of freedom, independence, uniqueness of being and doing, and rebellion, shoots both Luminaries with its lightening and the tension is finally broken. Given that Uranus rules Aquarius, the Sun in Aquarius is more affected by it.

Find where in your Natal Chart this T-Square plays out and you may understand what is really going on in your relationships and with the Leo Aquarius polarity of your life. For example, if Aquarius is your 12th house and Leo your 6th, you may have a conflictive tension needing rebalancing between your spirituality, your most private activity, your karmic psychology and your health, daily routines or work. It may mean that your health is paying the price of your lack of spiritual practice, or of your unresolved psychological issues. Uranus in Aries in your 3d house may mean that one of your siblings has a huge outburst that show you how to break the tension and solve the problem. Or you may read a new book, or hear something in the local radio or Internet that suddenly hits you with an innovative idea to heal your issue. Maybe a chat with a close friend clarifies things and you feel liberated.
As it is the case of all T-Squares, we should always look at the absent fourth leg of the configuration for a solution, the house of Libra, opposite Uranus in Aries. This time we find there two significant cosmic bodies whose archetypes show us a way out of this rut.

One is Pallas Athena at 26º 31' Libra, named after Jupiter's daughter. She's the intelligent strategic commander and feminine protective warrior. She's the lover of the harmonious art of pattern weaving, creator of balanced interconnections, and the wisdom in the father/daughter relationships. She shows wisdom in justice and personal power. In Libra she looks for "balance in the composition of live, [...] and "the ability to harmonize two different polar extremes in social situations". (Always Astrology)

The other is the binary fixed star Izar, at 28º 06' Libra, considered the archetype of our origin, "where we came from" or the source of life. Astrology King further describes "Izar as a source of life to us, and a point from which to look forward. Those with Izar strong for them do have both the keen interest in our origins, and a protective nature that wants to see us go safely on into our future development as a life species".

Aren't we all looking to go back to this balanced and harmonious place where we all came from and where we can find the needed peace we are all craving now?

In any case, this Eclipse is our last chance to complete this cycle; to realize and resolve the issues related to this polarity (in our Natal Chart). This Lunar Eclipse will show us with the flash of a very powerful 'thunderbolt' light what we need to do.

Harmony in chaos or the eye of the storm

Harmonious planetary relationships support the process nonetheless. Venus with Jupiter in fiery Sagittarius sweet talks with Mars in Aries putting love in action, and looking to satisfy our stronger desires. Having Saturn in between them, square to Mars and inconjunct Venus, helps us hold our horses to moderation and discipline, to achieve a mature social interaction. Saturn is the reality check of our affections. Are we responsible in love? Are our desires under control, or they control us? Chiron trine the Moon is helping us heal the painful emotions we've been dragging along for his seven-year journey through Pisces, with a little help of a very serious and deep conversation between Mercury and Pluto in Capricorn. For the healing to take place, can we agree on respecting a balance of power instead of continue the power struggle we've experienced so far?  The Mercury Pluto conversation can even be about the sexual aspect of the relationship, or the emotional or financial security in the partnership. When we are ready for harmony in our life, we need to have this kind of clear conversations, face our fears of rejection or engulfing, be really open about our true deepest desires, and put our values on the table. What is a sustainable compromise we can agree upon?

Remember that for a relationship to flourish, it is the noble light of the Sun shining on the Moon that makes it full. This applies to any partnership. The polarities are designed to complement each other, in order to enrich each other's lives and make us whole.

The bliss of unconditional love

Jupiter square Neptune is active most of the month, even only exact January 13th. This aspect puts us in overoptimistic mode with a fantasy slant. We have the tendency to feel highly inspired by love or compassion. We may dream so big, think so high of people, and idealize situations and possibilities, to the point that we may start to rise in the air like a balloon, completely ungrounded, floating in La La land! Inexorably, the day comes when the rose colored glasses fall from our nose and we see the truth. Puff!, goes the ballon, and we may end up in martyrdom or taking the savior's role.

However, this transit is a very good one if we are aware of the excesses we could fall in when imagination is out of control. Neptune is artistic, compassionate, imaginative, creative, charitable. Jupiter looks for the Truth, spirituality, believes, has faith, and makes all of that in a huge way. If one falls in love, the way out of delusion and possible deception is focusing on facts and actions, instead of imagining how one wants the person to be. Saturn sextile Neptune reminds us that true love is taking responsibilities, and making tangible commitments. This sextile gives us the possibility of our dreams coming true!

If there are no relationships in the way, the best use of this energy is going dancing, doing photography, painting, music, charity, service for a humanitarian cause, and any spiritual practice that is well proven and grounded. With Saturn's help, we can even make money with those artistic endeavors.

People with planets around 14º of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) are strongly affected by this square. Being the case, I recommend diligently dedicate time to a daily spiritual practice and probably taking Bach flower essences of Cerato and Clematis. 😊

Weird feelings and sensations

I wish you all the best during Eclipse season. It's not easy. One may have vivid dreams, weird sensations and feelings, strange states of consciousness and may have peeks beyond the veil. For people who are not prepared, experiences in the Spiritual Realm can be daunting, but they shouldn't be. In fact, reality is everything that we can perceive through the senses but is also everything we cannot perceive except through the sixth sense. Sometimes, eclipses stimulates this human capacity. I highly discourage the use of drugs and alcohol (especially if you're strongly affected by Neptune) during this time, because their effect may be intensified in unexpected ways. Partial Solar Eclipse January 5th/6th 2019

This is the Solar Eclipse 15º Capricorn with South Node. Take a look at the astronomy (Time and Date website) of it and enjoy!

Read about the Astrology of it in my Blog Post.

New Year 2019 - Solar Eclipse January 5th

Solar Eclipse 15º Capricorn - January 5, 2019

Mars comes home

The New Year starts with a bang! Mars enters Aries, his own comfortable home, and we hit the ground running in matters of the house where he falls for us. Does Mars set the stage for a feisty and assertive new beginning? We will certainly have found out about that before February 14 when he runs into Uranus before entering Taurus.

If you remember my post about the Grand Trine of Healing involving Chiron, it is still in active development. Right before the healing is consummated, Mars just had a close conversation with Chiron at the end of Pisces, right before crossing the Warrior's threshold into the Front. There was someone, an event, a situation or just something that made us really sensitive, even vulnerable. Our masculine energy was wounded, or we were inadequately assertive, or passive aggressive, or our sexual wound suddenly showed up for us to realize our inability to make our desires known. Then we may have realized how painful is not getting what we want. Or we may have gotten very hurt by others' aggressive actions and at the same time got afraid of the confrontation. Fortunately, it didn't last long, just enough to show us our deep wound, and get us ready to heal. Remember to use the direction of the North Node in Cancer to help in the healing process.

Mercury ends his fast journey in Sagittarius

This week, Mercury squares Chiron, bringing up hurtful communication. It's time to be careful with our words, focus on empathy when saying something to someone. The way we convey our message, the time and place, the tone of voice and the subject chosen become crucial. However, even in pain thinking that we are not heard, if we are present with our relationships, we can heal with words. Storytelling, parables, reading a book about similar experiences can be used to heal yourself and others (Astrofix). It will be really hard to say what we want to say. Depending where this falls in your chart, this painful communication or thinking can be related to siblings, short trips and your everyday environment as well. In any case, Mercury helps us this way to become aware of some inadequacy, imbalance so we get ready for the last chapter of our healing.
Mercury will also trine Uranus on Friday, January 4, giving us a mental jolt, a sudden rush of ideas to realize something related to your Aries and Sagittarius houses. This important revelation supports the eclipse process of letting go. Make sure you are present and your mind is alert and aware, so you can catch the genius moment.

The 'shelf' life of an Eclipse

You may have forgotten about the Great Eclipse in the Summer of 2017. Let me remind you that, according to Ancient Astrology, eclipse effects last for a long long long time, even 18.5 years until the next one in the same Sign Axis. Even though the stronger effect is between 6 months before and after, that Solar Eclipse at 28º Leo, August 21, 2017 is still strong for 2.4 years, a year for every minute it lasted. Every time a planets runs by, or aspects that degree somehow, the energy is reignited.  If you consider how it has affected you, you may observe now the influence of Uranus in Trine to it from 28º Aries (more so if you have any planets or angles at 28º Sagittarius, which will complete the Grand Trine in Fire). Freedom, electrifying events or insights, futuristic ideas, sudden shocks may flow easily into the theme of the eclipse, clarifying and confirming the process initiated by the eclipse in your life.

Sandwiched midway between Saturn and Capricorn, this New Moon 'interrupted' comes with a punch! It is the preface to the already well talked about Saturn Pluto Jupiter conjunction of 2020. Learning more about it, helps us understand what we are doing here. Look at the house where the eclipse falls for you and consider this: Pluto is dragging his feet through Capricorn since January 2008 until January 2024, destroying and recycling everything he touches, in order to renew and rejuvenate this area of your life and empower you. Behind it, comes Saturn, bringing new structures, organization, boundaries and discipline to regulate that newly acquired power and 'riches'. This eclipse brings events, circumstances and maybe people or thoughts to shed light on that process. We are now better able to understand it, digest it and assimilate it, whether we want it or not. Because, yes, it's been painful! We can certainly agree on that.
It is a partial eclipse because the South Node is 11º away at 26º Capricorn. We need to take into account that not all eclipses are made equal. One on the South Node is related to the karmic (law of the harvest) past, and is draining or purging some past conditioning or -in Capricorn with Saturn- structure, fear, limitation or way of being that no longer helps us in our evolutionary journey. The South Node always acts as the apana energy, the evacuation process of eliminating unwanted residue -garbage- from our life. Your Capricorn house will let you know what's leaving, so you can focus on improving the Cancer house. All the eclipses for the next 16 months will activate this process. To find out what areas of your life are at work with these eclipses, you can read my recent Cancer Capricorn Nodal Axis post. While you're there, feel free to make comments to share how the energy is manifesting for you personally, and share my post on social media if you feel it can be of help for someone else.

The Lord rules his home

The eclipse chart has 4 planets in their home sign concurrently. That makes them very happy and comfy. They are now free to work on their own home affairs. Jupiter is happy go lucky in Sagittarius, full of faith, optimism, enthusiasm, going to far away places, dreaming big, learning wide, believing high. His relationship with the New Moon asks for an adjustment of our conflicting desires and dreams, so we can realize them in a constructive way that makes all involved happy. Neptune in Pisces is dreaming his own dream of unity and unconditional love, and maybe about the wellbeing of all beings. Saturn in between them is assessing the resources, the facts, the effort and the probabilities of making all that real. Meanwhile, Mars is fighting to protect his right to be, and to make it happen.

Venus in a conflictive aspect with Neptune invites us to change the customary course of action in matters of love and relationships. Mercury newly entered in Capricorn, like a journalistic reporter, is learning, thinking and communicating ideas related to the new enlightenment brought by the planetary stellium he's about to meet.  Except that, he squares Mars! The conversations -and our mind- may be heated though.

My conclusion

Eclipse time is our opportunity to find another way to solve issues that may be deeply traumatic or at least conflictive. Unexpected or unforeseen, out of control situations may trigger the process. We may gain a new understanding of what the process is. For this eclipse, there is a draining of a stale structure, conviction, limitation in an area of life that is begging for transformation, so we can direct our energy to find comfort and wellbeing. It may be something as old as 30 years, when Saturn was in Capricorn last time. It's time to renew, recycle, refresh in this Capricorn house. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Forget about resolutions, let yourself be surprised by what it brings! It will be enough to flip our lives upside down for sure.
