Chiron in February 2020 - Struggle for Worthiness

Chiron and Lilith
The Struggle to Feel Worthy

Chiron in Aries

As Aries is the first Sign of the Zodiac, it signifies the birth, the rising of the Soul into the physical form. Aries is the first impulse of life, your body, and in particular, the head, which is the first appearing in the birth canal. Chiron in Aries, makes us feel that our self-image we show to the world, the persona, the identity, first impressions, the attitude, appearance, self-awareness, and your response (reflection) to the environment are impaired or inadequate.

There is a deep anguish from feeling that one's existence, actions and desires are not acceptable.  Consequently, one may feel unworthy, not able to fit in, may lack assertiveness or be too much assertive to compensate, may fear self-expression, may have an unconscious tendency to hurt oneself (especially the head). Deeply inside, one may feel that has no right to exist, and try to be invisible, or on the other hand spend all the energy trying to prove that one exists, with a "please, look at me" attitude. It can also manifest as unconscious mirroring of the 'other', projecting the wound on them. From that mindset of insecurity, one can fear assertion, may act too soon or too late, do things on one's own instead of asking when help is needed.

Black Moon Lilith in Aries

The Black Moon Lilith is the energetic geometrical point that has an orbit of 8 years and 10 months.  Lilith is associated with the Myth of Inanna of the Ancient Sumeria, or Persephone of the Greeks. Lilith in Mythology has also been associated with the first wife of Adam (Alphabet of Ben Sirach). She represents the angered feminine who rebelled against the attempt of male dominance. Buried in our psyche, is the rebellion against the physical incarnation (Saturn) that requires division, opposition and separation from the Source of Everything, and imposes submission of the creative power (mother, Cancer) to the designs of the organizing power in the tangible world (Capricorn).

Inanna Sumerian Goddess
Her 'darkness' is associated with the beginning of life in the enclosed space of the 'womb'.  It is in that origin that are buried our deepest traumas, where is hidden the unconscious part of our psyche, what Carl Jung called 'the shadow'. The dormant shadow or the psyche is the source and drive of our reactions, attractions, desires, choices, decisions, especially those that feed our self-sabotage, and self-defeating behaviour.  It is only when we have a Lilith transit, when we plunge in that dark space of our nature, and bring out the fear or the anger profoundly buried, that we are able to redeem ourselves with the light. Only in darkness, do we understand the light.

The entire month, Black Moon Lilith is within just one degree of Chiron, only to conjoin him in March. The Black Moon Lilith in Aries only aggravates the Chironic 'wound' of our existence. Together this month, they will trigger a psychological rebellion against our vulnerable condition. In different ways, you may fear or be angry because you feel unworthy, not enough. You may question your own value, merit, self-esteem. You may have a tendency to compare yourself, or your achievements with the success of others. Events or circumstances will make you come face-to-face with your own identity, assess your level of acceptance of yourself, no matter what other people tell you about it.

Fill yourself with the radiance of your own being. Any comparison will always make you feel more or less than others. But Black Moon Lilith and Chiron this month are inviting us to find our own light at the very core of our Self. You are unique, your life is of your own design, and good enough to fulfill your life purpose. Be brave, be you!

February 3 - Moon sextile Chiron

The Moon soft aspects to Chiron are opportunities to sooth the wound. Please read more in depth significations about the Moon phases in relation to Chiron. February 11th, the Moon opposes, on the 16th she trines, and on the 25th Moon conjoins Chiron.

February 6 - Sun waning semi-square Chiron

The Sun gives you the last push to help you integrate the expression of your core essence in spite of the perceived vulnerability, inadequacies, and impaired self-esteem. In the Myth of Chiron, the Sun God, Apollo, was the one who adopted him, redeemed him from his castaway condition. Apollo instilled confidence and optimism in Chiron by teaching him all the sciences of his time, that Chiron later used for healing.

Therefore, even the hard contacts with the Sun, are always a healing balm. As the Sun is about to close the cycle that started last year around the end of March, today you may have to go over the last bump in the learning process. An event, another person, a man, boss, or a father figure may challenge you again to integrate your woundedness. Remember Rumi, "I said: Pain and sorrow.
He said: Stay with it. The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” It is through the wound that we heal.

February 10 - Venus conjunct Chiron

This conjunction closes the cycle that Venus started in April 2019.  Do you remember a significant social, love or financial event or situation? Now, you're probably giving it closure, finally understanding, accepting and assimilating the implications, the 'lesson'. From now on, a new situation with the same theme starts for another round of learning. If you didn't get it then, this is a new opportunity, if you did get it, then this can be a deepening of the process. Venus and Chiron will present a new opportunity to take the same theme to a higher level of personal development.

As Jeremy Neals, Astrologer, says "True love cannot be made without Chiron".

Love in human life is as necessary as food and water. Babies cannot survive without it. Adults only survive without it. Whether we have a partner or family to love, Love is an essential part of human life. If alone, you have to learn how to provide it for yourself. If in relationships, we have to learn have to give it and receive it.

The wound that Chiron represents in your Natal Chart shows you the place where we most need TLC. For example, if it falls in the first house, your challenge is to learn how to love yourself, imperfections, shortcomings and all. If it falls in the seventh, your challenge is to learn how to choose an appropriate partner, or relate to another human being in a balanced way. When we relate to others, all areas of life are involved, especially the ones that hurt. Soon enough, do you realize that they need to be included as well.

The vulnerable areas -Chiron transiting Aries, are the hardest to manage in a relationship. Because we don't know how to heal, at first, we project the wound onto the partner, and they do the same onto us. We try to heal or fix each other. Venus visiting your natal Chiron -or the transiting Chiron in this case, is a balsamic relief. It helps us sooth the rawness of the wound, care for it, treat it with compassion, understanding, patience. Even though, Venus is not the unconditional love Neptune can give us, we can get a glimpse of what true love may be.

Venus can show us, though, that we all hurt for a valid reason, consciously or unconsciously. We all are broken one way or another, and paradoxically, still whole. When we remember this with compassion, we can then establish a harmonious and balanced love exchange, where both parties receive what they need. However, the whole process only starts within ourselves, when we understand that we are lovable in spite of our faults, when we look in the mirror and say to ourselves 'I love you' sincerely, with all our own heart. Then, we are ready to love the 'other'.

February 21 - Mars in Capricorn square Chiron in Aries

As soon as Mars enters Capricorn on February 16, where he is exalted, our vulnerability will be exacerbated. In the collective, events and situations will menace our very existence. Either, natural catastrophes, the cloud of sickness, or the threat of war can put people in danger. Because the actions of human beings have disturbed the natural ecological balance of our planet, the fury of the elements can fall upon all forms of life. Since the Mars opposition to Chiron on October 8th, 2019, fires have ravaged huge extensions of land. Mars is associated with fire, fevers, illness, pests, violence and war. Chiron is associated with the wound of our very existence. Learn more about Mars square Chiron.

In our personal lives, situations of anger or aggression, become the trigger we need in order to understand the true dimension of our human fragility, vulnerability. We will be challenged to assume the vulnerability, to identify that we are not omnipotent, that not being in control is part of our nature.  If we are to survive, we may need to respect our personal fragility, and recognize that is up to us to protect it. In which way the actions of others or your own actions sabotage your own identity, existence, and ultimately your own life? The motto of this aspect is 'my life matters'. The question Chiron ask to Mars is 'can I do it?'.

Conclusion

In February, Chiron takes us to the depths of the underworld in order to rise up, to awake to the light of truth, to realize the dimension of the primordial wound of being. Those who will be more affected by Chiron this month are the individuals who have natal Chiron in Aries or in the First Zodiac house, or Lilith in Aries or in the First House, or natal planets around the first degrees of Aries, or the other Cardinal Signs (Cancer, Libra, Capricorn).
Ultimately, we are to learn who we are and how to fulfill the purpose of our own existence.

Wishing you the best, much love! Sat Nam.
