What’s that sweet spirit we feel around the end of the year? Are you sure it is the Holiday Spirit? Let us reflect on the coincidental Astrological events.

This time approximately coincides with the Winter Solstice in the North Hemisphere with the longest night of the year, and the Summer Solstice in the South Hemisphere with the longest day of the year, when the Sun enters Capricorn. Then, the Sun seems to be still for about three days before restarting its journey North. From the Astrological point of view, it’s about the Sun aligning with the Galactic Center at 27 of Sagittarius. The Galactic center is where everything dies and everything births.  There resides our essence source, the place where we all come from. Call it G.O.D. (generator, organizer, destroyer), Creator, High Spirit, Truth, Father, it is the Origin.

“The Galactic center is that black hole at the very hub of our galaxy, this star cluster surrounds the Milky Way's central supermassive black hole, which is about 4 million times the mass of our sun.[...] The galaxy’s nucleus (marked) is home to a central, supermassive black hole called Sagittarius A-star.” NASA Mar 31,2016

This exact conjunction falls at the end of Sagittarius, the sign of Higher Knowledge. It’s relevant to take a look at what Sagittarius represents as an archetype. Sagittarius gives us beliefs, opens our mind to a higher understanding of reality, broadens our horizons. It represents spiritual development, cultural diversity, faith and hope, goodwill and compassion, passion for life, adventure, discovery of new things, places and ideas, search for truth and justice, learning about the big picture. It’s optimism, inspiration, big ideas, projects and ideologies.

The Sun at the Galactic Center at 27 Sagittarius let us enter that open door to all of that, is our yearly opportunity to connect with our spiritual essence, to look up for inspiration and believe in a better life for all. We become more optimistic about our ideals, want to birth a new life, or a new way of living. We feel benevolent, are more inclined to give, and concerned about those who don’t have enough. Our soul feels this refreshing breeze of renewal that helps us see further than our tangible present and into a better more hopeful future. We feel more confident about the probability of our dreams coming true. We feel that equanimity, goodwill, justice and living the truth are possible. It’s our time to renew the vows with our own soul, because we start thinking that is possible to be who we feel we really, really, really ARE, even while attached to Earth.

We may receive downloads of understanding, new ideas, and inspiration that may change, modify or completely transform our belief system, or open up our mind to something we had never thought about. This can happen through reading, listening to or watching a message, program, movie, or just in a casual conversation with a person we meet for the first time. Old ideas may yield a new meaning as well. 

To gain some perspective, imagine that the planets do not travel around the Sun in concentric perfect ecliptics, rather they travel as a whole system around the Galactic Center among innumerable other systems, therefore, the rotations are in fact helicoidal.

If your natal chart has planets, or angles at or close to the 27 of Sagittarius, you are more likely to feel it more intensely. If there are hard aspects (conjunctions, squares, oppositions) you may feel the pull to change directions in some way indicated by the other planets, houses and signs. For example, if it falls on your IC (4^th house) your emotions may be heightened or your family life highlighted with good vibes. If it falls on your AC (1^st house) your whole personality can feel rejuvenated with newness and the desire to elevate your goals.

This year, we have some “bonuses” added to this wonderful energy. Venus and Neptune are in a harmonious relationship. With Neptune being a higher level of Venus (Love), their contact can spark a really beautiful stardust on relationships. They are positively supported by Saturn, which in fact makes the dream come true. Also, with Mercury joining Jupiter in Sagittarius, communications can be grandiose, but we may miss important details, and overlook practical matters. Therefore, the advice is to be careful, realistic and keep grounded, because at the same time we have a treacherous planetary relationship involving the Giant of the Solar System.

Jupiter transiting its home of Sagittarius is still in an active square to Neptune also at home in Pisces. Planets 'at home' are extra powerful. The challenge with them is becoming aware of our high idealism, probably seeing a situation through rose-colored glasses, while feeling exhilarated with unconditional love, exceptional optimism or enthusiasm about something. It’s the case of Don Quixote meeting his princess, Dulcinea del Toboso, who in reality was just a regular peasant girl from the countryside. For example, if those fall in your 11^th and 2d house, it may mean that you feel overenthusiastic about the value of your contribution to your social group or network; or that high recognition or advancement received from your career over inflates your ego. If in the 4^th and 7^th, you may feel overoptimistic about a long-term partner, or you may think so high of him or her that you decide it is time he or she moves in with you, only to find out later that you’ve deceived yourself.  This aspect is active for a longtime, and it is exact January 13, June 16 and September 21, 2019.

Remember, with the Lunar Nodes shift to the Cancer-Capricorn Axis, we are looking for balance between societal conventions, public status, performance, activities and goals and our more private anchor of emotional comfort and safety. Therefore, the Cancer nodes is pulling us towards anything that will make our life more emotionally fulfilling, and there is a tendency to hide inside ourselves or wherever we consider home. This energy will be active for about 18 months total.

As I always say, the transiting energies are not isolated, but constantly affecting your natal chart depending on the natal planetary contacts they make. What is the Zodiac Sign of Cancer?

It is anything that one identifies with home, safety, care, emotional fulfillment, family, nurturing, coziness, comfort, the hearth, a place where we can relax, people whom we can trust, count on and lean on, one's closest emotional bonds, land, farmers, land owners, farms, real estate. 

What is the Zodiac Sign of Capricorn?

It is finding security in social construct, conventions, all public life, institutions, government, everything we do to contribute to society within its parameters, political structures, public administration, maturity and progress over time, longevity, obstacles, barriers, borders, walls, discipline, responsibility, reaping what was sowed.

No wonder they are opposite, right?

Well, the transit Lunar Nodal Axis is the points of intersection between the Moon ecliptic and the Earth ecliptic. That means also that the North Node in Cancer will always exactly oppose the South Node in Capricorn. They are considered karmic astrological points. The North Node, the prow of our 'ship', defines where our desires take us, the South Node, the stern of our 'ship', what we leave behind or use as assets in order to conquer the North Node objectives. Like with a boat, the South Node of the Moon, is the poop, or 'it poops' what is no longer useful, or finds a new way to use it in order to achieve the North Node designs. 

These are astrological points that bring events, people, circumstances, things of any kind to our life, but that we do not have a chance to choose. Some astrologers call them "fated events", but it means everything that is out of our control. Every Birth Chart has this axis. It determines what the person pre-chosen life purpose is. It seems that every life we live, we end with new desires, maybe things that we didn't have a chance to finish, needs that we couldn't fulfill, etc., and we decided to come back (imagine how strong of a desire that pushed us to incarnate and start all over again!) to achieve them. 

The Nodes travel through every sign for around 1.5 years, and take about 18.5 years to make the whole loop around the Zodiac. This is another cycle of psychological evolution for the human being. 

This time around, the transiting Nodes on the Cancer and Capricorn axis are taking us Home, and away from the need to perform in society, from reaching status goals, public recognition, career carving and climbing, and such. We will feel the need, and events will push us towards finding comfort, care, safety and emotional bonding with what is familiar, nurturing, relaxing, in places and with people whom we can trust. 

We will look for public institutions and government decisions and leaders that will support and promote our need for security, nourishment, and shelter. We will discard any other societal structures that do not fulfill our basic needs, or do not make us feel comfy. Having a steady ground where to stand will be the most important need to satisfy now. This may lead to our choosing who stays and who leaves our life, on the basis of trust, and satisfying the need for support, especially emotional support and mutual protection.  

Next are some ideas about how the transiting Nodes will affect every Rising Sign (you need the time of birth in order to find it). This analysis are based on Whole Sign/Whole house system, where every sign corresponds exactly to a house. In general, is accurate, but remember that depending on the time and place of birth, the house cusps change, and they can fall at the beginning, middle or end of the sign. Also, if any of your natal planets are in Cancer or Capricorn, they will be affected by the respective Node. 

CANCER

will lean on themselves to satisfy those needs for comfort and security. You may not be able to count on a partner, or your relationships, either personal or business. So you will strengthen yourself to keep up with the challenges. You will become more independent to satisfy your needs and take responsibility for yourself.  You may build a new physical appearance to feel better about yourself, regardless of what others think of it. 

LEO

will focus on their most private area of their life, even the mind, their psychological wellbeing, maybe finding a spiritual practice that will emotionally support you. You may want to isolate, hide out or go on a retreat. Or you may end up in the hospital for some reason. You can rebuild your daily schedule, your health routines, even restructure your work place or find a new job that will allow you to nurture yourself spiritually or disconnect from the world. You may decide to travel far away, and ditch the boring routine of daily activities.

VIRGO

will prefer finding comfort and nurture your social groups, your social life may become your family instead of leaning on your children. You'll find your life joys among specific interest groups where you can even show off your creative abilities. Your creativity may also help you increase your income, or broaden your social network, or both. 

LIBRA
will focus on finding comfort and safety in your public life, career or social status, public work, identity or activity. The private life will be only important whenever helps you achieve your public objectives. The home may be the base for your public activity, or the place to exercise your career.

SCORPIO
will focus on finding comfort in learning new things, higher understanding or knowledge, higher studies, religion or belief system, grandchildren, travel to countries with different cultures, appreciating folklore or cultural traditions, learning another language. The basic knowledge obtained through written or verbal communication will serve the purpose of those objectives. Also people in your daily environment may help you, but they will not be the focus of your attention.

SAGITTARIUS
will find safety and comfort joining forces, energies (including sexual) or finances with a partner or an organization that can provide those resources; will focus in acquiring psychic abilities, studying and researching occult, taboo or hidden knowledge, like Astrology, divinatory practices, or digging into dangerous situations (detective work), uncovering rotten materials from inside the earth, acquiring power and control, and most of all, experiencing deep psychological transformation. You may use your own resources, finances or possessions for any of those activities.

CAPRICORN
will find comfort and contentment in your long term trusting relationships, personal, contractual or business. Your whole person, even your body, and the way you show up in the world will be completely dedicated to such partnerships.

AQUARIUS
will find comfort in organizing and following your daily routine schedule, taking care of your pets, dedicating time and effort to your health, using any therapy or method necessary to heal illness or imbalance, and gaining fitness. Also is the perfect time to remove any self-undoing behaviors, like addictions of any kind, or any habit that makes you miserable. You will feel drawn out of your seclusion mode, of your hiding den and of those secret habits behind close doors, in the bedroom, retreats, visits to the hospital, or the prison! It's time to leave behind the hidden 'trips', parties and drinking sprees. It's cleansing time, says your sixth house in Cancer!

PISCES
will find comfort in your children, your creative projects, your romantic life and everything that is fun, entertaining, performing, parties, restaurants, sports, and fun people. The social groups or organizations where you belong, your acquaintances and the money you make in your career will help you achieve those desires.

ARIES
will find comfort and safety inside the walls of your own home, with your family or those you consider family. You'll want to decorate, make your house very comfy and cozy bringing anything that can enhance your emotional life. Any benefit from your career will be invested there. You could even end up working from home.

TAURUS
will find comfort and contentment in your immediate environment, your neighborhood, the people with whom you work, play or socialize daily, the people you meet at the coffee shop every day, your siblings, and any spoken or written communication through internet, TV, phone, etc. You may focus on the marketing of your products or skills, even learning new skills. The higher knowledge that you have gained before, or your belief system, religion, cultural traditions, or ideals will help you in any of those endeavors.

GEMINI
will find safety and contentment in the acquisition of material possessions, and increasing your personal earnings and finances. Here you may need to be careful because your body may want to accumulate some mass. ;) You may feel hungrier and assimilate more from what you eat, thus increasing your weight. Your shared finances and energy from your personal partner or business partners will contribute to achieve those desires.

Lucky New Beginning

At 15º Sagittarius, this New Moon with Jupiter close by is an enthusiastic opportunity (1+5=6 meaning: temporary opportunity) to renew our belief system, or just plainly our beliefs around the subject of the house where Sagittarius falls in our individual charts. Especially lucky opportunity for Sagittarius Rising Sign! Since it opens up new possibilities to change perspectives, ideas and concepts in any area of their lives.

General themes for the rest of the signs

Capricorn: opportunity for new ideas, concepts, perspectives, beliefs about travel to far away places, seclusion, the unconscious mind and spiritual life.
Aquarius: opportunity for new ideas, concepts, perspectives, beliefs about associations, large groups of people, post graduate education, hopes and dreams, and earnings from your career.

I think, Mars has been trying to tell us to change direction on some issue that we are dealing with (look at the house where Pisces falls to identify your issue). The value (Venus), the belief or the overall information or just the enthusiasm (Jupiter), the ideas, communication or reasoning (Mercury) and our sense of identity and self expression (Sun) is off about that issue and is at odds with our actions, will or desires (Mars). We may be obnubilated by Neptune!

Now Mars in Pisces has a spiritual warrior/advocate flavor about it. He's fighting for an ideal... or illusion? or delusion? Today, squaring the New Moon, Mars conjunct Neptune aggravates his idealism, his spiritual flame, his platonic campaign. Driven by his desires, Mars is not skillful in the emotional (Moon) and intuitive (Neptune) realm. With this in mind, it would be wise to consider waiting on any actions for a few days until Mars enters his home in Aries, takes off his rose colored glasses, puts on his gear and goes out to the Front. Otherwise, we either may be trying to reach for a mirage or fall back onto the "same old, same old" escapist behavior (drugs, alcohol, sex, binge eating, etc.) or imagination, that we already know will give us "the same old, same old" backlash of a hangover. Maybe I am deflating your inspiration, but if your inspiration is valid, it will last the test of time, and will still be valid in January when Mars is happy again at home. Meanwhile, dance, photography and going to the movies, or to an Art Gallery or Museum will do the trick. If the painting or photography you see there are about war, even better!

Sagittarius season

Jupiter at home in Sagittarius is a great time to think big, to look for larger horizons, to travel by mind, ship or plane, to learn new things, about other cultures and philosophies, and different beliefs systems, and embrace a higher and broader understanding of the world and humanity and Nature. It's also a good time to reflect about the past 12 year cycle. But action and changes will come more fluid when the Sun enters Capricorn, the cardinal earth sign that can materialize them. All the while, enjoy the festive season, if possible with family, or with those you consider family! Happy Holidays!

Grand Water Trine of Healing 2d chapter - December 5, 2018

Mercury at 27º Scorpio, Chiron 27º Pisces, North Node 27º Cancer

New beginnings are in store for mostly everybody with several Lunations (New Moon or Full Moon, eclipses), including an eclipse -among other things-, at 0º. It seems that in order for things to get the new fresh start, there is still some healing to do. This is what this Grand Trine in the water signs is indicating.

Chiron activation - Jupiter, Sun, Mercury ...

This Grand Trine started, in fact, as soon as the North Node reached 29º Cancer on November 6th, 2018. That day, Jupiter was at 29º Scorpio, and Chiron at 29º Pisces.
Next was the Sun at 28º Scorpio on November 20, making contact with Chiron at 28º Pisces.

Mercury, messenger of the Gods

Mercury comes now escorted by the Moon, on December 5th making contact from 27º Scorpio.

Jupiter in Scorpio touched the "wound" (Chiron), flaws or inadequacy of beliefs -especially about sex and gender issues, sexual morals, lessons learned, the authority of teachers, preachers and philosophies, preconceived ideas, cultural identities of gender and sexual orientation, and idealistic optimism.

The Sun poked the flaws and inadequacy of identity, it shed light on our repressed creative expression and personal authority, the way we see ourselves, and the sensitivity of showing who we really are, the realization of our fallibility. We realized that no matter how much effort we make, we're always imperfect, and we need to accept this as a way to honor our existence and love ourselves nevertheless.

Mercury with the Moon becomes emotional -especially intense in Scorpio- understanding now the deep implications (and pain) of communicating our authentic self, and the wounded sensitivity inherent in our human exchanges (especially sexual), relationships and dealings. One may feel inadequate and vulnerable to communicate -especially hindered by Mercury retrograde-, the deepest needs of our inner authentic self.

The North Node activation

The North Node in this Water Trine configuration gives us the solace of finding a refuge, a place of comfort, where we can relax, and receive acceptance. For the next year and a half, this zodiac house of Cancer will be our home, the place where we will want to be to tend our booboos, to nurse our wounds, and put balm on our sores. If you don't know yet where in your Birth Chart Cancer is and what it represents, it would be a good time to ask me for a reading, because you will need it.

Another factor we need to consider is the chart configuration: it's a bucket or basket. All the planets are on one side, with the 'brim' marked by Uranus and Venus (father and daughter in Mythology), and the 'handle' is the North Node in Cancer. What is the significance of this configuration? All the planetary energy converges towards the North Node, having the South Node in the midpoint as the critical pressure point at the bottom of the basket. It means that as a collective, humanity is guided towards all that Cancer represents because something very difficult is happening in Capricorn, and we will need Cancer's shelter. I'll talk more about this in the Cancer/Capricorn Nodal Axis post later.


Grand Trine in Water Signs

It'd be interesting to find out what needs healing for you, so you can use this energy consciously, by looking at where the Water Houses of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces fall in your Birth Chart. Those are the places where we find the healing of our dilemmas, crises, and flaws.

In general, if you are Air Rising Sign, Gemini, Libra or Aquarius, the Water houses are in the money, work and health, and career areas.
If your Rising Sign is in Water, Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces, then the water houses are in the areas of identity, believe system, romance and creativity.
If your Rising Sign is in Earth, Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, the water houses are in the social areas of communication, friends and relationships.
If your Rising Sign is in Fire, Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, the water houses are in the most private houses of home, crises and transformation, and the unconscious and most hidden aspects of your life.

As I always say, for every Rising Sign the experience will be different, as well as unique for each individual, because the Charts should be read as a whole, not separated in pieces. This is mainly because the transit planets can make soft or hard aspects to your native planets, giving a particular twist to the energy.
