Chiron - The Healing Journey

No matter where your Natal Chiron is located in your Birth Chart, its journey around the Zodiac is your Healing Journey. His present transit through Aries for 7 years is activating that area (zodiac house) of your life. (Please read the corresponding Post by scrolling down the Blog). The activation is a healing process, but it could start with a painful situation, event, circumstances to reveal to you your wound in that area and the way it relates to your natal wound (where Chiron is in your natal chart).

The Rising of the Kundalini energy activates the Healing Journey
Having a clear understanding of Chiron interaction and action in the sector Aries occupies in your chart can help you use his energy consciously and live the related circumstances mindfully. It is definitely a learning process; the more awareness one has, the better one can deal with it.

Special attention should be paid if you're living your Chiron Return. Around 50 years old, Chiron has made the whole journey around the zodiac and comes back to conjunct your natal placement of Chiron. This is one of the milestones in your spiritual development, which involves emotional, psychological and even physical processes. Significant as well are the opposition and the two squares. The second square has a stronger effect because it is preparing you for the Return. The second square is also related to other important milestones activated by Saturn and Uranus (feel free to explore this in my post "Where we come from"). These two planets, Saturn and Uranus, and Chiron, working in harmony, activate the rising of the Kundalini (natural healing energy of the body) energy during our lifetime.

A note to remember is that everything in the Universe is energy. The cosmic bodies relate harmoniously and in synchronicity with each other. Their energetic interplay is a choreographed dance. In order for the planetary energy to work positively and well with us, we need to be in harmony with their energy as well.

What happens is that if we live an unconscious life and we are mindlessly aligned with our shortcomings and negative baggage, the planetary energy tries to align us with the Universe. The experiences that we perceive as negative, and sometimes catastrophic, are wake up calls and shakers that attempt to move us in the right direction and into harmony with the Source of All (you may call it God, essence, as you like).

Some of us, live our life avoiding the need to attend to our personal 'wound'. Instead, we project it onto the 'other' whom we commit unavailingly to fix. This is so futile that often times, we cause inadvertently our own wound to become rawer, bigger, more hurtful, and even bleeding.

If Chiron brings pain and suffering, it means that there is something to align in that area of life. The upheaval, injury, 'negative' event, person or circumstances, is there to open up the healing. Conversely, healing comes easily if we are ready for it. For instance, if we have been consciously working the issue of the 'wound', nursing it, attending to its needs with much self love, then Chiron transits are a balm to our 'wound'. In both cases, once we heal, we become the effective Healer, the Shaman, the Astrologer, the Alchemist, the Wise Man or Woman to help others heal as well.

When one decides to work on one's Chiron Wound, one needs to consider that regular medicine is not effective. Proper diagnosis is difficult to pinpoint. There is always some 'mystery' about it. There is a mystic flavor to it. In general, there is a spiritual cause underlying the 'wound'. For instance, my natal Chiron is in my 6th house in Pisces. I've been investigating all my life why my digestive system is so sensitive, trying to discover which food irritates me, what diet is more appropriate, what time of the day is best to eat, how I should eat, what is best way to help elimination without disturbing the balance, etc. To no avail! Until I observed the cusp of my 6th house in Aquarius, ruled by Uranus in my 12th fired up in Leo! And I realized that my nervous system is always in a state of spiritual emergency. Therefore, my digestive system responds in kind, with chronic irritation, somatizing the energy coming from such spiritual (12th) stress (Uranus) and difficult sleep (Uranus in 12th house). The only remedy, is a spiritual remedy, like yoga and meditation.

Chiron should always be attended with an alternative approach and healing methods. After all, he was the creator of alternative healing, the Wounded Healer. Following his modality, the best approach is to use the wounding to heal the wound, in other words, Homeopathic medicine. Modern medicine attacks the illness, fights the symptoms, kills the germs so aggressively that it also kills the parts that are not ill.

Chiron uses instead his own wound as a healing method. Rejected at birth, he exposes himself to be rejected by choosing to exist and love himself (1st house). Deprived of everything, he creates his value and good fortune using his own body and attributes (2d house). He elevates his half-animal condition into a human-like condition by developing his mind and intelligence through studies (3d house). He becomes his own home, he builds his own home where he teaches Achilles and others (4th house). He uses his wound to develop his creative expression by teaching, imparting healing and wisdom (5th house). His wound also serves him to find his own spiritual healing, thanks to it he becomes a Shaman, an Alchemist (6th house). Because of his wounded condition he develops the great relationships he had with students, with his adoptive father and with Prometheus. He gives his own treasure, his immortality, to merge with 'the other' (7th house).

Should we talk about his transmutation due to his abandonment and rejection wound? (8th house). Can we see how his wound gave him the Higher Knowledge he acquired? (9th house). Wasn't his public reputation gained using his wound? (10th house) Didn't he socialized and achieve his wishes through his wound? (11th house) Wasn't his spiritual development through his wound? (12th house).

Every disease or imbalance has its source in a spiritual imbalance or disconnection. Among the several healing alternatives, one could consider, herbal therapy, flower essences, Naturopathy, Hypnotherapy, Astrology, Energy work, Water therapy, Homeopathy, Shamanic journeying, past life regression.

Meditation of any kind, is a great healer, specifically Pranayam (breath), Mantra chanting, Swara Yoga (rebalancing the nostril predominance breathing), Transcendental, Vipassana, Mindfulness, tree hugging, e Breathwalk.

Any tradition of Yoga practice done as a meditation is also healing, especially Kundalini yoga because of its higher spiritual quality. Yoga works on rebalancing the chakras, or energy centers that directly correlate to the glandular system affecting the organs. Regular practice keeps you in balance and away from sickness.

At the same time, a healthy lifestyle promotes a balanced life. Choosing carefully what we ingest, be it food, information, quality of air and water, emotional environment, etc, keeps us healthy. I can't never stress enough the power of awareness. Conscious living is crucial to live a healthy life.

How does Astrology help us heal? Again, Astrology makes us aware of the energy we were born with, its evolution, and the 'transiting' energies that affect us currently. If we don't know that information, we end up acting from our unconscious. Once we know ourselves (conditioned self) and the energetic environment we live in, we can make conscious decisions on how to face our circumstances.

Reading Chiron transiting Aries in your Chart, identify what is the issue you're facing now. Then, look for an alternative healing method that most appeals to your soul right now. Just like the mythological Chiron did, you may want to try out more than one and see what works for you. Soul healing is very individual.

Like Chiron's own healing journey, the ultimate healing is Surrender to the Higher Self. In the end he willfully surrendered his 'immortality', he was ready to die, to surrender his Being (ego, self, individual identity) to the Source Power that gave him life in order to heal. This is the Ultimate symbol of the Healing Journey. We are learning how to come back and reunite with the Source of our Being.

If you are ready for your healing journey, I also offer alternative healing consultations. We discuss your needs and I can give you suggestions according to your astrology, according to the issue and your personality. I can design an appropriate personalized yoga and meditation program. I also work with Bach Flower essences therapy and energy healing.

Chiron Transiting Aires - Part VIII Aries and Libra

Peter Paul Rubens oil on panel (1630-1635)

Chiron in Aries Transiting the 7th house

(Probably for Libra Rising Sign)

The lesson of Chiron in Aries transiting the 7th house is about how to create and maintain healthy relationships, personal, business and public. Establishing any kind of relationships stems from our sense of identity, the persona we project out. When relationships are unhealthy, there is a need to reflect back to ourselves. If we conduct our relationships from an unconscious state of being, we project onto the 'other' in a reactionary mode. We usually end up attracting someone that acts as a mirror, in whom we can look at ourselves very 'naked'.

Insecurity problems regarding our identity will make us attract unbalanced people who can awake on us our protection mode, or our need to fix them. This happens just because we feel inadequate and not good enough, then instead of realizing it is us who wants the 'fixing', to avoid the pain of facing ourselves, we just work on the 'other's' faults. Conversely, we may put the 'other' on a pedestal; just because we feel so unworthy, that person in front of us looks so much better than us. In both cases, the work we attempt is futile. We either realize we can never change that person, or finally see the real person beneath the romanticized skin we had thrown upon his or her shoulders.

Nonetheless, in the process, we hurt ourselves very badly. First we long so badly for the perfect partner that we see a Dulcinea on every beggar, a person who sabotages us, smashes our purest feelings, trashes our best gifts, and smears our reputation. We may have an abusive, unscrupulous, broken (particularly with head injuries or ailments, since it is in Aries), addictive, even mentally ill, aggressive, violent, or otherwise challenged partner. This is just what we expect, unconsciously showing that "I am worth nothing". After all is said and done, we end up feeling a bottomless infinite solitude, full of emptiness and powerlessness. Puzzled, we ask "why did he(she) did this to me if I was so good to him(her), and I gave everything to the relationship?"

The best way to use Chiron transiting the 7th house is to work on our own identity. It is important to feel perfectly comfortable in our own skin, to build the character we want, acquire the virtues and qualities and values we look for in a partner. If that person in front of us is not someone with whom we feel happy, then it is time to think "what am I doing wrong to get what I get?"

Chiron in Aries Transiting the 1st house

(Probably for Aries Rising Sign)

Aries transiting Aries in the first sign is a double dip of intense feelings of inadequacy. Aries rules the first impulse of life, your body, and in particular the head (no wonder!, the first thing appearing in the birth canal is the head, right?). The first house is the Self, the image we show to the world, the persona, the identity, first impressions, the attitude, appearance, self awareness, and your response (reflection) to the environment.

Chiron there, makes us feel inadequate in all those areas. It often manifests as feelings of being too much or too little of something, i.e. "my nose is too big", "my hips are too narrow", "my hair is too curly" kind of complaints. But also, affects the psychology of your identity: "I am not enough", or the other extreme "I will show you how ____ I am" kind of automatic and unconscious reactions.

Consequently,  one may feel not worthy, not able to fit in, may lack assertiveness or be too much assertive to compensate. One may fear self expression, may have an unconscious tendency to hurt oneself (especially the head). One may feel deeply inside that has no right to exist, and try to be invisible, or on the other hand spend all the energy trying to prove that one exists; "please, look at me" attitude. It can also manifest as unconscious mirroring of the 'other'. From that mindset of insecurity, one can fear assertion, may act too soon or too late, do things on one's own instead of asking when help is needed. You may feel your initial impulses are inappropriate,  you start your actions too soon, or too late.

There is a deep anguish from feeling that one's existence, actions and desires are not acceptable. Therefore, there is a feeling that there is no point in trying to obtain one's desires, one may give up trying, ending up getting what one doesn't want. Some people can grow very shy, repressing their life drive. Others may go pleasing everybody left and right, except themselves, in an attempt to prove themselves of value. Likewise, others may show a big ego.

Feelings of disempowerment, impotence, frustration, suppressed anger, even passive aggression are common. Extreme cases (depending on hard aspects Chiron makes in the natal chart to other cosmic bodies) can end up getting ill, self-inflicting pain, with the ideation of proving that they exist, or that someone will pay attention to them or value them. The stronger the suppressed desires, the more radical the reaction, because the Martian energy of Aires needs to show up somehow.

This polarity between the 1st and 7th houses interact with each other as do the other ones also. The way one sees oneself, impacts the way we relate to others, the way we choose the people we want to be around, and our long term partners. You may want to read both houses to understand how they mutually relate. Also, make sure you have read the post The Pain of Being where I explain in more detail about Chiron transiting Aries in general. I will next write about Remedies for Chiron transiting Aries. Stay tuned! Also next week, transiting Mercury will conjunct Chiron in Aries at 3º. Soon after, Venus will conjunct him as well. You may as well want to read the post on these Transits.
