Mars Chiron Conjunction in Aries - The Wounded Me

 The Wounded Me

Pablo Picasso, Toile, 1951

"I am who I am"

Chiron in Aries represents 'a profound loss or lack of self-worth' (Martin Lass), the internalization of a deep sense of unworthiness and the perception of being rejected, or abandoned in the world. There are core feelings of not having the right to exist, to occupy the body, or disowning the personal material reality of the self. As a consequence, Chiron in Aries looks for his or her self identity. (Read the Myth of Chiron)

The Mars Chiron conjunction in Aries is doubly significant given the fact that Mars is the ruler of the Sign, thus rules over Chiron's archetype in that Sign. The conjunction aspect is one of joining forces, the initiatory energy of Mars and the hypersensitivity of Chiron. The conjunction is also intensified by the fact that happens at 15º, the central one of the Sign of Aries, where the deepest integration of the Arian energies and processes occur. The 15º symbolizes the key signification of the Sign, and further emphasizes the search of identity because it occupies the Leo decan.

Mars exacerbates the vulnerability of Chiron archetype. In the collective, events and situations may threaten our very existence. Either, natural catastrophes, the cloud of sickness and hunger, or the threat of war can put the very existence of human beings in danger. Because the actions of human beings have disturbed the natural ecological balance of our planet, the fury of the elements fall upon all forms of life.
Mars is associated with fire, fevers, illness, pests, violence and war. Since the Mars opposition to Chiron on October 8th, 2019, fires have ravaged huge extensions of land. Then, on October 1, 2021 the opposition saw the volcano eruption in Cumbre Vieja, La Palma of Canary Islands, and fires in Greece among other places as well as cyclones in Middle East  and devastating flooding in China. The previous conjunction happened on July 14, 2020 when multiple fires were burning as well. By then, the Atlantic Hurricane Storm season had exhausted the 21-name list.

In our personal lives, Mars can manifest in two ways. The conjunction can generate enough impulse to take action regarding the 'wounding' issue we suffer in the house of Aries, or can trigger a violent reaction against it. The lower vibration may create impulsive situations of anger or aggression, while becoming the trigger we need in order to understand the true dimension of our human fragility, vulnerability. One could also escape the suffering by projecting it onto an-other and trying to heal the 'other', or teach the other alternative methods of healing.

Alice Wellinger, Painter, Finding Your Identity

If one escapes the pain of the soul though, it often appears in the physical body as a sudden accident, a physical ailment or inflammation, usually caused by a surge of uncontrollable energy looking for an issue. The pain may become so extreme that the temptation to run away from it could be strong. However this extra energy could be useful in the healing if channeled appropriately. You are challenged to assume your vulnerability, to realize that you are not omnipotent, that not being in control is part of our nature, and that finding out who you are is the work of a lifetime.  If you are to survive, you may need to accept and respect your personal fragility, and recognize that is up to you to protect it and define your Self in spite of the imperfections, failures, and even deformities.

In which way your sense of vulnerability and of unworthiness sabotage your own identity, existence, and ultimately your own life? The motto of this aspect is 'my life matters'. The question Chiron ask to Mars is 'can I do it?' Mars responds, 'You can do it now!'

Sat Nam.

Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn - The Shadow of Power & Fear

Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn

Personal Empowerment by Conquering the Shadow

For your reference, Saturn entered Capricorn in 2017, and Pluto is there since 2008. Pluto is the Lord of Power, wealth, personal resources, regeneration, and human evolution. He impacts our personal life through ruthless challenges, crises, terrible suffering, disempowerment. He forces us to transmute, to refine our desires, to accept our spiritual power and become independent.

Pluto rules also the infinite creative energy of the cosmos, and the human creative sexual power in relationships, or sexual intercourse. It is often by merging with another human being that we experience the most transformative powers within. Then, we start the transformation of our own desires into the desires that benefit two or more people, the partner and the procreated children.

It is when we intimately relate to another person that we can see our shadow. The ego desire is threatened and we begin the power struggles necessary to learn the dimensions of our own power, accept it and use it properly. However, we often fail to achieve the complete process and lose the chance to evolve and empower ourselves. The shadow then shows in our need to control others. We manipulate, obsess, keep secrets, act compulsively, abuse power, or , scared of our own power, engage in self-undoing behaviour.

Then Pluto puts us face to face with powers greater than ourselves to challenge us, heal us and empower us. He creates traumatic crises, we enter in co dependent partnerships, we have an overpowering boss, we become unable to pay a mortgage, or become victim of a crime, or we develop an addiction, all of which can generate cruel and terrifying sufferings. In those situations we may feel the urge to transform our ego desires in a way that benefits all involved. If we succeed in the transmutation process that Pluto imposes, we learn the dimension of our power, we accept it and learn to use it, not only for personal benefit, but in a way that everybody benefits.

Saturn is the builder, organizer, agent of division and separation, discipline and maturation. With his strict, sometimes menacing treatment, he may manifest in the fear of not being able to comply with his requirements and 'adulting' demands. If authorities are tough on us, we may try to slip away to avoid responsibilities, or we may comply in fear. It is like having your father index finger pointed at you, 'do it or else!' However, we are greatly rewarded if we accept the discipline and learn the lesson.

Our shadow shows up as avoidance of taking responsibility or discipline, or eluding a required deep recognition and transformation of our weakness, shortcomings and faults.

At this stage, Pluto shows us how and why he became the Lord of all the Riches of the Earth, and we understand it.

What is your shadow?

What is your Pluto in Capricorn shadow? Here are some ideas according to your Rising Sign, and to some extent to your Sun Sign if you're older than 30:

CAPRICORN
You undermine yourself emotionally resisting your own power, doubting your own skills, or capacity to do what you want. Your partner, spouse or significant other in your life may manipulate you, be jealous, do things behind your back that infuriate you, so you discover your own power, and learn how to use it. Pluto and Saturn seem to weaken you so you find your own strength.
AQUARIUS
You may have to face your secret enemies, like addictions, shady dealings, unconscious psychological material, self undoing behaviour, family history 'baggage', past life unfinished business or skeletons in the closet that haunt you even in your dreams. Pluto and Saturn bring any of that to the surface so by resolving those issues you discover your power, and learn how to use it.
PISCES
In your social life, you may be facing friends, older relatives, or groups of people to which you belong that are trying to impose on you their ideas, refute your position, or obsessively persecute you for what you say or do. By reacting to those situations, you may discover your own creative power, and learn how to use it.
ARIES
You may have experienced power struggles with your boss because of your or his/her hidden motives. Also a father figure or external powerful force, like government authority, regulation or institution may be pushing your buttons. This way, Pluto incites the recognition and transformation of your own power to confront them and develop your own personal authority.
TAURUS
You have the opportunity to see raw and clear your faulty ethics. Some powerful spiritual teacher, or having access to eternal truths through higher studies, reading an inspirational book, or learning different lifestyles from people of other cultures creates an internal battle of ideologies. Pluto works slowly and runs deeply inside your consciousness to show you that real power lies on not letting your beliefs be in the way of accepting the truth, no matter how fearful you might be.
GEMINI
A profound crisis, traumatic events, financial misfortunes or criminal behaviour overpower you, and trigger your primal survival instincts. Also sharing financial resources with a partner or financial institution may disempower you so you can learn how to stand on your own feet. Sexual merging with your partner can also awake your fears of losing your own power. Pluto and Saturn present those situations to teach you how to conquer your fear and manage your own energies in relationships.
CANCER
Similar to Rising Capricorn because the opposition always involves relationships, through the manipulation, power struggles, obsessive compulsive and jealous behaviour of your life partner, you are forced to learn how to stand for yourself, defend your position and empower yourself. Pluto and Saturn present you with this person's behaviour to teach you how to conquer your fear to be you, and manage your own energies in relationships.
LEO
You may have an overpowering health issue, a challenging workplace or situation, or a daily schedule with which you have a hard time keeping up. Saturn and Pluto will scare you to death, literally, fear of death. You are forced to tap into your natural healing ability, or into your regenerating power, determination, and stamina to overcome the situation, or illness. This way you discover your own inner power to sustain your life and heal.
VIRGO
You may experience strong feelings and desire for someone who is not romantically available, feeling powerless in face of the impossible love. You may have a strong longing for a connection with your children that are separating from you for whatever reason, like in the empty nest syndrome. Outer forces may remove all possibility of enjoyment, or you may not be able to experience joy in your life. Saturn and Pluto make you fear loneliness so you learn to generate joy within your own soul.
LIBRA
You may be deprived of home and family life, which makes you fear for your safety, comfort and nurturance and feel abandoned. Pluto and Saturn gives you these experiences so you find those powers inside of yourself and learn how to provide security and wellbeing for yourself.
SCORPIO
Siblings, classmates, neighbors or just your immediate environment can present overwhelming influences that seem to crush your life force. Saturn and Pluto are trying to teach you that you don't need to surrender to what happens to you, and that you have the power to influence your environment and affect the lives of people with whom you relate every day.
SAGITTARIUS
Scarcity, personal financial instability, material deprivation, lack of life essentials to survive, and even hunger squeeze your life force energy to the point that you are compelled to work harder to be able to thrive. This way, Saturn and Pluto show you that you have the power within to stand up for yourself and be strongly independent.

Chiron Transiting Aires - Part VIII Aries and Libra

Peter Paul Rubens oil on panel (1630-1635)

Chiron in Aries Transiting the 7th house

(Probably for Libra Rising Sign)

The lesson of Chiron in Aries transiting the 7th house is about how to create and maintain healthy relationships, personal, business and public. Establishing any kind of relationships stems from our sense of identity, the persona we project out. When relationships are unhealthy, there is a need to reflect back to ourselves. If we conduct our relationships from an unconscious state of being, we project onto the 'other' in a reactionary mode. We usually end up attracting someone that acts as a mirror, in whom we can look at ourselves very 'naked'.

Insecurity problems regarding our identity will make us attract unbalanced people who can awake on us our protection mode, or our need to fix them. This happens just because we feel inadequate and not good enough, then instead of realizing it is us who wants the 'fixing', to avoid the pain of facing ourselves, we just work on the 'other's' faults. Conversely, we may put the 'other' on a pedestal; just because we feel so unworthy, that person in front of us looks so much better than us. In both cases, the work we attempt is futile. We either realize we can never change that person, or finally see the real person beneath the romanticized skin we had thrown upon his or her shoulders.

Nonetheless, in the process, we hurt ourselves very badly. First we long so badly for the perfect partner that we see a Dulcinea on every beggar, a person who sabotages us, smashes our purest feelings, trashes our best gifts, and smears our reputation. We may have an abusive, unscrupulous, broken (particularly with head injuries or ailments, since it is in Aries), addictive, even mentally ill, aggressive, violent, or otherwise challenged partner. This is just what we expect, unconsciously showing that "I am worth nothing". After all is said and done, we end up feeling a bottomless infinite solitude, full of emptiness and powerlessness. Puzzled, we ask "why did he(she) did this to me if I was so good to him(her), and I gave everything to the relationship?"

The best way to use Chiron transiting the 7th house is to work on our own identity. It is important to feel perfectly comfortable in our own skin, to build the character we want, acquire the virtues and qualities and values we look for in a partner. If that person in front of us is not someone with whom we feel happy, then it is time to think "what am I doing wrong to get what I get?"

Chiron in Aries Transiting the 1st house

(Probably for Aries Rising Sign)

Aries transiting Aries in the first sign is a double dip of intense feelings of inadequacy. Aries rules the first impulse of life, your body, and in particular the head (no wonder!, the first thing appearing in the birth canal is the head, right?). The first house is the Self, the image we show to the world, the persona, the identity, first impressions, the attitude, appearance, self awareness, and your response (reflection) to the environment.

Chiron there, makes us feel inadequate in all those areas. It often manifests as feelings of being too much or too little of something, i.e. "my nose is too big", "my hips are too narrow", "my hair is too curly" kind of complaints. But also, affects the psychology of your identity: "I am not enough", or the other extreme "I will show you how ____ I am" kind of automatic and unconscious reactions.

Consequently,  one may feel not worthy, not able to fit in, may lack assertiveness or be too much assertive to compensate. One may fear self expression, may have an unconscious tendency to hurt oneself (especially the head). One may feel deeply inside that has no right to exist, and try to be invisible, or on the other hand spend all the energy trying to prove that one exists; "please, look at me" attitude. It can also manifest as unconscious mirroring of the 'other'. From that mindset of insecurity, one can fear assertion, may act too soon or too late, do things on one's own instead of asking when help is needed. You may feel your initial impulses are inappropriate,  you start your actions too soon, or too late.

There is a deep anguish from feeling that one's existence, actions and desires are not acceptable. Therefore, there is a feeling that there is no point in trying to obtain one's desires, one may give up trying, ending up getting what one doesn't want. Some people can grow very shy, repressing their life drive. Others may go pleasing everybody left and right, except themselves, in an attempt to prove themselves of value. Likewise, others may show a big ego.

Feelings of disempowerment, impotence, frustration, suppressed anger, even passive aggression are common. Extreme cases (depending on hard aspects Chiron makes in the natal chart to other cosmic bodies) can end up getting ill, self-inflicting pain, with the ideation of proving that they exist, or that someone will pay attention to them or value them. The stronger the suppressed desires, the more radical the reaction, because the Martian energy of Aires needs to show up somehow.

This polarity between the 1st and 7th houses interact with each other as do the other ones also. The way one sees oneself, impacts the way we relate to others, the way we choose the people we want to be around, and our long term partners. You may want to read both houses to understand how they mutually relate. Also, make sure you have read the post The Pain of Being where I explain in more detail about Chiron transiting Aries in general. I will next write about Remedies for Chiron transiting Aries. Stay tuned! Also next week, transiting Mercury will conjunct Chiron in Aries at 3º. Soon after, Venus will conjunct him as well. You may as well want to read the post on these Transits.
