The Transformative Dream of Life - New Moon in Pisces, March 2021

Pisces, Sign of Integration into ONE.

A New Moon in Pisces with Venus and Neptune initiates a cycle of spiritual merging with the collective unconscious that may come with a sense of loss, dissolution, or ending of a process, situation or circumstances. The conjunction with Neptune and Venus within 3 degrees infuses this New Moon with compassion, unconditional love, spiritual healing powers, and inspires romantic love, artistic expressions, and charitable endeavors. However, beware of delusional ideas or idealization of people and situations.

Imagination works overtime to bring down to reality the results of a profound spiritual experience where everyone and all is integrated into the sense of ONENESS. These days, you often hear ‘we are all in the same boat’. This Moon Cycle doesn’t sit well with the philosophy “I’m fine, screw my neighbor”. On the contrary, it makes people aware of the fact that whatever happens to others affects one, and one’s actions or inaction affect others in exchange.

On the negative side of the spectrum, because Neptune in Pisces ruling the New Moon dissolves boundaries, it can increase addiction urges and prone the individual to overdose, increase the escapist behaviors, isolation feelings or behavior, and a greater affluence of sick people to hospitals due to the exacerbation of germs spread and contagion.

TimePassages Chart

The 23º of Pisces falls in the Scorpio Decanate, ruled by Pluto in Capricorn (sextile to NM), which makes for a transformative spiritual experience. That degree also falls in the Mars ruled Egyptian Term, indicating the initiatory quality of the transformation. The corresponding Dwad is Capricorn, indicating that the spiritual transformation is about society regulations, written or tacit conventions adopted to achieve communal security.

Even though the Moon Cycle starts in a mutable water sign, the rest of the cycle phases are cardinal in preparation for the next cycle from Aries. The First Quarter Square of the cycle happens at 1º Cancer, on the Spring Equinox March 21, beginning the new tropical year. Cancer is the Sign of caring, nurturing, and the need for caution and safety. The Full Moon, which gives the culmination or full potential of the cycle, will be at 8º Libra, ruled by Venus, the Sign of fairness, equanimity, harmony, social refinement, civilized relationships. On April 4, the Third Quarter Square (waning) comes from 14º Capricorn. Those cardinal Signs ‘lampposts’ mean that this Moon cycle brings important initiatory changes to adjust (Pisces) the collective common good, healing, and creativity.

23 Degrees of Pisces

This Full Moon is also the precursor and preparation for one of the most important events this year, the Jupiter Neptune conjunction at 23º 58’ Pisces. With a cycle of meetings in this Sign of 166 years, they haven’t joined in Pisces since March 16,1856 (exact at 18º♓︎12’).

At that time in the United States, Seattle Governor Stevens declared a "war of extermination" upon the indigenous peoples. Also, a variety of long-standing tensions and disagreements about American life and politics was the brewing soil for the imminent Secession War. "For nearly a century, the people and politicians of the Northern and Southern states had been clashing over the issues that finally led to war: economic interests, cultural values, the power of the federal government to control the states, and, most importantly, slavery in American society. Due to the white supremacy ideology and a mainly agricultural economy that depended on the labor of enslaved people, the Southern states viewed enslavement as essential to their very survival." (Thoughtco)

Elsewhere in the world, France and England were fighting the second Opium War in China called the Arrow War. “China had previously attempted to suppress the illegal opium trade, which had led to widespread addiction in China and was causing serious social and economic disruption there. British traders were the primary source of the drug in China. The Arrow War was the result of the desire of Great Britain and France to win additional commercial privileges in China, including the legalization of the opium trade, as well as to gain more legal and territorial concessions in China.” (Britannica)

Looking back, there seems to be theme correlations, i.e. trade with and from China; opioid epidemic in the USA; freedom rights; resurgence of white supremacy sentiment; social polarizations that may be brewing war conflicts.

Other themes associated with the Jupiter Neptune conjunction are global spread of pathogens, dissolution of cultural and identity barriers, space travel, legalization of addictive substances, and gas explosions.

New Moon Sextile to Pluto

Pluto contributes his transformative power to the spiritual process. Pluto clears the way to awakening to higher levels of reality by decluttering the ground, getting rid of material forms, and attachments (sometimes codependency). Later he brings back the alchemized tangible elements to re-form and re-build the new reality. One can count on this New Moon to penetrate deeply into both, our psyche and spirit to rise them up from death.

Semisextile to Eris in Aries

As the consciousness (Sun) unites with the unconscious psyche (Moon), in awkward 30º angular relationship with the Goddess of Discord, Eris, this New Moon stirs a strong emotional indignation in the face of the unrecognized rights of those who have been relegated, ignored, rejected, and abandoned by the mainstream society. An emotional urge is born at this New Moon, an emergent need from the depths of the collective unconsciousness, for transformation (Pluto) at the systemic structural level of society (in Capricorn), of those subjacent conditionings that exclude the one that appears to be ‘different’ for any whimsical reason.

Golden Apple of Discord by Jacob Jordaens

The Goddess Eris was not invited to the feast of the Gods because she was too ugly. This social attitude over a long period cannot but incite resentment, rancor, hostility and even vindictiveness among those who are rejected. Eris comes to the Banquet of the Gods with her golden apple and throws it on the table saying ‘to the fairest’. Those very words were the ones that spur the competition among the other Goddesses to the point of originating the bloodiest Greek war in Ancient History, the Trojan War. As you can see, social exclusion can only generate hostility and discord, even destruction, never peace and prosperity.

This New Moon stirs deep seated strong feelings of resentment long held back, and still difficult to express them without excess or fear. Repressed fear and anger can immobilize you or frustrate you. Behaving assertively or fighting for what you think you deserve creates an inner turmoil that makes you sick to the stomach, because you perceive that the result will probably be contrary to what you want, perhaps disapproval or retaliation. On the other hand, the bottled-up anger can erupt too fast and uncontrollably, making you do things that you immediately regret.

The best way to use this energy during this entire Moon Cycle is to plan ahead. If you participate in a group or organization that advocates for civil rights or for the rights of a certain ‘minority’, make sure you develop a strategy, that advisors are available, that all movements are well thought and prescribed ahead of time. This rebellious energy requires to develop and display strength to stand the ground and courage to act constructively for peace and harmony. If you suffer an injustice in your personal life, take this time to reflect in meditation, and find the best solution for the benefit of everyone involved. After all, it’s a New Start in Pisces, the Sign of everyone and everything, where one merges with Human Kind and with the Cosmos.

Chiron conjunct Ceres in Aries opposite MakeMake in Libra

MakeMake, Rapa Nui Creation Bird God

Chiron in Aries is another archetype that doesn’t fit in the box of social expectations. Half horse, half human, but not even a Centaur, rejected and abandoned by his own parents, the two beings that should have loved and protected him, Chiron is often the story of many human beings. Chiron in Aries claims his right to exist, as different as he might be. Uniting forces with Ceres, they claim their right to receive nurturance, to be taken care of, truly loved and accepted unconditionally and a as whole, not as half-and-halfs. They are entitled like everybody else to their self-determination, autonomy and freedom.

Exactly opposite at 7º in Libra, MakeMake acts as a mirror reflecting their quest for wisdom, after risking their lives. MakeMake represents the quest and fight for survival. In the Birdman myth, the Tangata Manu has fetched the precious promise of life by dangerously risking his life in order to catch the first egg of the season (Spring). The egg symbolizes the 'seed' of a New Beginning and of Life itself. They call it the "mana", referring to the sacred power, and MakeMake, the Creator himself. That's why the Clan's chief, (hopu) was considered the "incarnated God", giver of new life and he had to spend ‘one year in isolation’ as a spiritual 'egg incubation' path.

MakeMake is the Creation God of the Rapa Nui civilization of the Easter Island. According to Henry Seltzer, “We could speculate that the archetype associated with MakeMake involves delving down into the dark interior of the psyche in order to obtain a more passive and feminist form of received wisdom to be merged with the warrior male outer-oriented energy of the ego.” In Libra, MakeMake looks up for the wisdom of equanimity, fairness, equal rights and equal give and take in the social contract.

A Human Being is first and foremost a Spiritual Being. He has ‘fallen down’ to Earth to make this physical experience where the Soul can know itself. As Carl Sagan said, "We are the way for the Cosmos to know itself".

Virgo Full Moon - February 27, 2021

Full Moon in Virgo

Virgo - The Maiden

As the Moon Cycle that started at 23º♒️ developed, its collective themes were unveiled. The most notorious in North America was the Storm Uri (which surprisingly sounds like Uranus’ nickname), that, by the way, arrived at the heels of the Saturn Uranus square. Since, obviously, the Aquarius New Moon was governed by Uranus, Uri not only brought unusually cold weather, surprising breaks in electricity supply (Uranus themes), freezing temperatures (a Saturnian theme) but triggered another breakdown of the whole system, starting with the power companies, through the power utility regulatory agency, and going all the way to the top of governmental leadership and legislation. Everything in the way collapsed, as things do when Uranus strikes. The collapse affected transportation, food distribution, utility services, house and community services maintenance, and much much more.

Uranus in Taurus is the rebellion of Nature. Since 2018 with his ingress in Taurus, we have been observing how small imperceptible live entities, like the covid19, or an insignificant 1ºC of climate warming, set off a domino effect of disproportionate consequences. The warnings started with the Saturn Uranus conjunction of 1988, but nobody paid attention, or nobody wanted to accept it, and we continued to live as if the problem didn’t exist. Well, the problem is REAL. You probably cannot NOT see it now.

Another theme related to Uranus is the use of Uranium for both pacific and belligerent purposes. You have probably learned the ‘disputes’ about the subject between Iran and the USA, and the most recent developments about it during the present Aquarius lunar cycle. Not only this cycle, but we are exactly half-way between eclipse seasons, meaning that as the Sun squares the Moon Nodal Axis, it’s a ‘no man’s land’ where the significations of both eclipse seasons merge.

In addition, the Nodes of the Moon are approaching the Planetary Nodes of Uranus, at 12º♐️45 its South Node, and at 15º♊️33’ its North Node! What does it mean in layman’s language? The karmic (action) memory (Moon Nodes) meets the traumatic karma of Humanity (Uranus’ Nodes). Undesirable Uranus traumatic past karma is associated with genocides, cold human cruelty, dehumanization of humans, such as robotization, mechanization, distancing from life bodily fluids and functions, abuse of science, and generalized abstraction of Natural Laws. Of course, desirable future Uranus karma relates to the betterment of civilization through intellectual development, technical and mechanical inventions based on scientific innovation, space exploration, astronomical knowledge expansion, and the wide distribution of knowledge.

Therefore, the Full Moon in Virgo is both the culmination of the present lunar cycle started in Aquarius, but also the completion of the six-month cycle that started with the September 17, 2020 New Moon in Virgo, which, ‘coincidentally!’ squared the Nodes of the Moon. It was a time of changing direction. What did it mean for you personally? How this Full Moon is completing what you started then?

The Axis Pisces Virgo correlates to compassion and service, creativity and discernment, the whole picture encompassing everything and the small details or individual pieces of data. Together, they focus on healing, putting each piece in its place to make sense of a Universal Puzzle. Pisces and Virgo are two extremes of the same subject, making sense of imbalance and chaos, finding faults and cures, discriminating what works and what doesn’t and looking for repairs.

A Virgo Moon, associated with small intestine digestion process, analyses, sifts and separates what is useful and what is waste. You may find yourself sorting out things, issues, data, events, information, messages, accounts. For some, it may mean calculating taxes and preparing a tax report, or balancing your bank accounts. For others, it may mean sorting out your diet, a health treatment, cleaning up the house, or cleansing and disinfecting the fridge.

In the midst of the recent energy crisis in the USA, it was discovered that whereas the supposed purpose of ‘deregulation’ was to lower energy prices for the consumer, the reality shows that consumers have ended up paying ever higher prices. This Virgo Full Moon can find government institutions and leadership now investigating the problems, proposing or finding solutions, fixing the malfunctioning links in the chain, or in the network (after all, the New Moon was in Aquarius). Will something change? Maybe not immediately, nor even before the next crisis, since this discussion has been going on for decades and nothing was done. But Aquarius is also associated with the community, the social collective, which not only suffers the consequences, but with its participation, can also contribute to the solution.

In my video, I said that this Virgo Full Moon talks volumes about health, which it’s another subject very present in the collective. Even though, the number of cases of the original covid19 is decreasing, mutations present a new challenge. Virgo favors the implementation of proven treatments, possibly the production of an ‘edited’ vaccine.

Creativity is also part of this Virgo Full Moon, since the Sun in Pisces projects his conscious light on our unconscious represented by the Moon. For those who know how to connect with your Muses, it is a great opportunity to download ideas from the spiritual world and capture them on paper, clay, or your favorite instrument. Let your voice be heard through an artistic expression!

Enjoy this day!
Sat Nam.

Aquarius Stellium - February, 2021

The Aquarius Energy

A twenty-year period started on December 21, 2020 at Winter/Summer Solstice due to the Jupiter Saturn conjunction at 0º Aquarius. This launches a period of Aquarian energy, highlighted in February by the agglomeration of 6 planets and 2 asteroids there. These many planets were only gathered in Aquarius previously in February 1962 at a 15ºAqua43’ South Node Solar Eclipse, with a similar stellium that also included Mars. The only asteroid present at that event was the magical Chariklo conjunct the eclipse.

Those were the years of the hippie generation, when young brains were concerned by the increasing dangers of the Cold War. It was the years of the Civil Rights Movement in the USA, and the love and peace movements around the world. The 1962 Aquarius stellium brought about the dawn of the hippie protests against the war, with their claims for peace and love for all, mainly because of the 1961 Missile Crisis so close to home. All the other wars had been farther away with little information about what was really going on there, but this crisis came too close to reality. It was at the same time the urgency of liberation and a wakeup call, a rise in consciousness.

Aquarius, the Air Sign, naturally promotes everything that is light, and can rise to the heaven. Those were the years when Astronauts from Russia and USA were launched into space for the first time, the aerospatial industry surged with the widespread of commercial air travel. Just the idea of being able to travel faster through space, changed the vision of the world, and space and distance became relative. Rising from the ground felt liberating from the heaviness of gravity.

Strong Aquarian energy is associated with the unveiling of a higher perspective of reality, one that promotes and favors a spiritual awakening. Novel pieces information that appear unexpectedly, eureka moments, the sudden strike of knowledge, expands the breadth of understanding and of amplitude of consciousness in the human mind, and most probably, with accompanying parallel levels of development in animal and plant life as well. Thus, right out of the gate, life functions at a higher level of intelligence and humans are able to liberate themselves from the chains of obsolete ideas.

Amazingly, the Myth of Prometheus associated with the Sign of Aquarius, stealing the fire to the Gods in order to give it to the Human Race, may, in fact, indicate the process of life generation by the Cosmic Fire released by the Big Bang.1 Several scientific studies on Photons and Neutrinos have concluded that these invisible particles coming from the Sun and from the cosmos have the power to trigger DNA formation and mutation, maybe extinction as well. Those cosmic particles that hit Earth, are now considered to have been instrumental in the generation of life.2 Our Solar System now travels a region of the Galaxy where the Earth is being bombarded with an extra dose of those particles.3 Their effect on the human nervous system may include changes that promote the awakening to higher levels of consciousness. Adding to that, the increased activity of the great awakener, Uranus, in square with Saturn, and the hard aspects Uranus receives from Mars, for about 18 months, Humanity is at the breaking point of a Great Awakening leading to a Neo-Renaissance.

How does the Aquarian energy manifest? Aquarius manifests in all and any waves that travel through Air. That’s why it’s associated with electricity, radio, electromagnetism, and telepathy among others. He is the Lord of the synapsis in the brain and throughout the nervous system, enabling the neurons connections, thus allowing the thought processes, and those eureka instants. Promotes the reception of knowledge that expands the human understanding of reality as a collective entity. Rules the waves that interconnect everything in space.

Becoming lighter

Why it’s associated with rebellion? Because, its futuristic projections cannot be grasped by the outlook from the present reality (Capricorn). Aquarius’ influence, propelled by its ruler Uranus, projects Humanity forward with giant jumps, producing ideological fractures and discontinuity. As Albert Einstein was quoted saying, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” Thus, any innovative solution, necessarily looks rebellious!

If it is associated with peace, human rights, common causes, and the benefits for the community, why Aquarius is considered individualistic? Remember that its polarity is Leo, and as such, they are the two extremes of the same stick. Whereas Leo organizes and centralizes the energy around its autonomy and authority, Aquarius distributes it among all. Those rebelling right now in the streets reclaiming their rights, they can succeed if they are doing so for the benefit of the collective, not to feed their ego, which is exactly what are contesting. The concentration of Aquarius energy struggles against the rise of centralized figures (Leo) who want to concentrate the power, resources and control in themselves, in order to distribute them equally for every individual member of society.

The times are calling for Humanity to understand that we cannot survive as isolated individuals. The human being cannot survive alone, needs to make part of a community, his family, his neighborhood, his tribe, society. This is unfortunately a very simple principle that has fallen into oblivion. Interesting enough, a microscopic entity has come to remind us of it, still some are not able to listen. However, if Covid19 has brought something positive, it was the evidence that when one individual hurts, the whole society is affected.

Another rise of awareness comes with cosmic discoveries, understandings and adventures. Now, there is a mission going to Mars to collect samples, and to bring them back to study them on Earth. Just a few days ago, a young intern just discovered a planet in a ‘neighboring’ solar system

Ben Cukier the Nasa Intern discovers a new planet

When Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity in 1752, Uranus had not even been discovered, but his chart shows Mercury in Aquarius, and Aquarius ruler, Uranus with Pluto in Leo. Voilà a lightning bolt realization that would later veer the course of Humanity! Other related discoveries like the electrical lamp by Thomas A. Edison not only revolutionized the world, but completely change our perception of reality. He had three planets in Aquarius and Uranus with Pluto in Aries. Tesla, who invented a self-sufficient generator, had Aquarius on the midheaven, Uranus and Pluto in Taurus on the Ascendant. He’s remembered for “revolutionary contributions to the discipline of electricity and magnetism.” Tesla's precursor work on “alternating current electric power (AC) systems, helped usher in the Second Industrial Revolution.” That’s how Aquarius opens the access to new knowledge, expands our consciousness, and changes our perspective of reality.

Benjamin Franklin experiment with electricity

The Jupiter Saturn Great Conjunction in Aquarius opened the door to great leaps of innovation and invention. It will manifest in robotics, aerospatial science, astronomy, faster transportation vehicles, waves applied to medicine, new 3D body imaging systems for healthcare, and most probably, in great advances for the communication technologies. I think that Astrology will take new life as a science in many ways in the next twenty-year period.

Like any other Sign, Aquarius too has its shadow side, but today I just wanted to focus on its positives, in an attempt to give you hope, lighten your day, and contribute to the rise in consciousness and awareness. Each of us can contribute to this New Dawn by focusing on the Aquarian energy according to its placement in our natal chart. You need to know your time of birth to find out which house is occupied by Aquarius, and learn about that area of your life where you can set new goals and apply more effort. I can help you understand it, giving you ideas and inspiration on how to enhance it, and make the most of it. Feel free to contact me for a personal reading today!

Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius 2021

Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius

Nasa picture

Mercury Retrograde periods can be daunting sometimes, like the one in October-November 2020. If you live in the USA, you know exactly what I am talking about. However, there is always something to learn about your mind, how you think, how you use your mind and the information you receive, how you can improve communications, how to increase your knowledge.

Mercury has a short revolution cycle around the Sun, changing his identity character, sometimes swiftly, through every Sign of the Zodiac in just around 88 days. Mercury has the ability to infuse himself with each of the Signs’ qualities, helping you evolve the quality of your mind and ideas.

For the last two years, the retrograde periods were highly charged with emotions, because Mercury spend such a long time in Water Signs. This year, all his retrograde cycles happen in Air Signs, focusing and strengthening your intellectual abilities.

Mercury will turn retrograde at 26º 29’ until 11º 1’ of Aquarius. The qualities of the higher mind will be emphasized. Aquarius is the Sign of intellectual abstractions, of social connections. There, he enjoys linking unrelated ideas in a way that results in a totally new conceptualization.

Mercury in Aquarius goes against the grain, thinks out of the box, receives sparks of brilliance, and may enlighten your mind. However, you may accept ideas you’ve never understood before, or you may stubbornly defend your point of view like your life is at risk without it. Some may become mentally cynical, or have a sarcastic tone to their opinions. If you have planets, angles or points between those degrees, its influence will be obvious to you.

Another factor to consider during this Mercury retrograde period is the overpopulation of Aquarius. As he turns retrograde January 30, there are 6 celestial bodies there, Saturn, Jupiter, Sun, Chariklo, Pallas Athene and Mercury. And Venus enters Aquarius on February 1st. They increment the Aquarian energy 7-fold or more! This agglomeration happened last time in February 1962! You will identify with Humanity at large, center your attention in social issues, think a lot about your hopes and goals for the future, and increase your urge to be with your friends or to belong to a group of like-minded people.

What does this Mercury retrograde period is all about specifically?

There are several challenges, but it’s mainly about reorienting the thought patterns, realizing any unrealistic perception of reality, and making room for softer ideological positions. Criticism, arguments and full disclosure of ideas may endanger or deeply hurt relationships as well. This is not just a guess out of my imagination. In order to come up with these conclusions, I studied all the aspects Mercury will make going direct first starting in the pre-shadow (January 15 at 11º♒️1’), then as he goes back over, and direct again up until March 13 when he comes out of the retrograde shadow (26º♒️29’).

Let’s take a look at them one by one.

The very first is a trine to the North Node of the Moon (Jan 20; Rx Feb 10; March 2). Your mind has the possibility to easily reorient thoughts with factual information. Time to let go of thought patterns based on outdated beliefs, adjust your vision of the world at large in relation to actual pieces of knowledge. You may realize that your spiritual practice, education, or religious beliefs don’t fit anymore with your social reality. You may also adopt a polarized perspective, or see increasing opposing viewpoints around you, among friends, siblings or relatives.

Consider this Mercury in Aquarius an opportunity to develop a higher understanding and develop a wider encompassing intellectual perspective, as well as listening to stranger ideas with objectivity.

Mercury forms several semi-sextiles (30º angle), which adds a tone of mental disparity and the need to reconcile unrelated approaches.

Jan 20, Feb 8 Rx, Mar 8. Mercury semi-sextile Neptune represents a challenge to think realistically, to communicate clearly, and avoid denial of reality. During this aspect, you may experience mental fog, confusion of perception or unrealistic conceptualization. You may be prone to utopian ideals, self-doubt, intellectual uncertainty, and vacillation regarding your beliefs. Imaginary fears are possible also. It’d be useful to let go of fantasies, distractions, delusions, impractical theories, and unproven information. Your ideas may lack structure, your thought process may be disorderly and result in confusion. Faith, hopes and illusions are not reliable. Conversations with others may be ambiguous leading to misunderstandings or misinterpretations. Make a goal of expressing yourself with clarity in all your communications, support your ideas with facts and proven truths to avoid misleading or confusing your audience.

Jan 26, Feb 3 Rx, Mar 13. Mercury semi-sextile Pluto represents a challenge to stop obsessive thinking, to moderate your ideas, let go of outmoded views, and instead listen to what others have to say. If you insist with rigid ideas, forcing them on others, or compulsively needing to be heard, you create conflicts difficult to solve. There is a tendency to be dogmatic and uncompromising in your communications, and to control the flow of the conversation trying to inject your words in other people’s minds. It’s best to avoid following agendas and spreading propaganda if you want to maintain peace in your relationships.

Jan 29 Mercury semi-sextile Venus represents a challenge to accept criticism and to become more diplomatic to keep harmony. Every time you confront other people’s ideas directly trying to convince them of your point of view, you look for trouble. You take to heart the differences of opinion, become defensive, stubborn or arrogant. Face with those differences, you may completely avoid talking, or end up ascribing your sympathy to someone just because they agree with you. But, conversely, you may avoid saying what you think for fear of being rejected.

When on Feb 13 Mercury Rx conjoins Venus, then sweet talk, harmony of ideas, and agreements are possible.

Feb 7 Rx; Mar 10. Mercury semi-square Chiron has you frustrate your own mental process when you attempt to heal your sense of wounding. You may feel hurt thinking that your ideas are not correct, good enough, viable, or valid. Preoccupied by your own defeating thoughts, you may keep silent and isolated.

Feb 10 Rx. Mercury square Mars and you’re ready to argue. If you are not, then others may provoke you with their words or offensive communication, and you may be pushed to start a heated disagreement.

Feb 14 Rx; Mar 5. Mercury conjoins Jupiter is the perfect aspect to go viral with a message on social media. Whatever you say publicly reaches Gargantuan proportions and is spread left and right like dust. At the mundane level, the news and information have a wide broadcasting, probably all over the world. These are days to have circumspect conversations and sober verbal expressions.

Hermes, Messenger of the Gods

How can I take advantage of Mercury Retrograde Period?

Imagine your mind as the Greek God Hermes, with those wings in his feet, even sometimes depicted with a winged helmet, flying here and there and everywhere. Well yes, that's your mind. In fact, it's so unstable and fickle that it is described as the 'monkey' mind. Thank goodness for Mercury Retrograde! Thank goodness for him being so close to the Sun at times!

At least we have a few opportunities every year to go back over our thoughts, sort them out, and put them in order, make sense of them, discard some, and learn something! The biggest mental quick is, in fact, when Mercury conjoins the Sun. That's the start of his cycle at the inferior conjunction, the New Mercury (emulating the New Moon), when he is between the Earth and Sun (Feb 7 in this cycle). When it is within 8 degrees range of the Sun, the mind is overpowered by the Sun. But at the exact conjunction (cazimi) the sunlight gives greater mental clarity, clearer mental purpose. You align inner concepts with the outer reality. You have sudden new ideas, find solutions, see new possibilities. But if you really want to know all about Mercury cycle, study Astrology with me. I teach all the details about it.

The previous Mercury Chiron cycle had started in Pisces in 2019, and had the last (waning) quarter square (1º♈️34’), interestingly enough, on December 29, 2019, between the Christmas Solar Eclipse at 4º ♑️ that brought us the catastrophic present of Covid19, and the Saturn Pluto conjunction of January 12, 2020. The current Mercury Chiron cycle started on April 15, 2020 at 7º♈️24’, when practically the whole world was in lockdown. Coincidentally, the last (waning) square of Mercury to Chiron happens at 4º Capricorn/Aries, reactivating the Solar Eclipse point of December 2019. These are some of the reasons why I consider Covid19 the ‘messenger’, because Mercury was intimately involved in its introduction. Mercury square Chiron fulfills the reminder’s role, reiterating the message, coinciding with the outbreak of a new virus mutation (UK).

Hermes (Mercury) Messenger of the Gods

Mercury square to Chiron, are you listening? Here we are, with lots of people still in denial, unable to recognize and accept the painful ‘message’. Denial is part of the grief process, and it may last days or years, but the corps of our ‘old way of life’ is there in front of our face. You may shame or blame whomever you like, and still we are all, as a collective, responsible and liable for the damage we have done to Mother Earth. We are all directly or indirectly accomplices in the destruction of Nature. By interfering in the natural ecosystems, Nature has become as vulnerable as we are, because we are part of her. Like this, we have become our worst enemy.

Before, Covid19, we didn’t care, now we constantly talk, think, read and write about it. We are children of rigor. When it was just Nature and other species in the brink of extinction, we didn’t care, now that we hurt, we start to understand how our daily, mechanical habits are so important in the grand scheme of things. Throwing trash anywhere, overusing plastic without recycling it, spraying chemicals, polluting the water, land and air, trashing even the space around the Earth, and so much more, was our old ‘normal’. If we don’t change our habits, especially the consumerism, Covid19 won’t be the last virus we will deal with. However, it hasn’t been the first one either, but we weren’t listening carefully to the previous ones. Maybe now, we get the ‘message’.

Chiron teaching Achilles

Now that we are emotionally charged, contrary to the first quarter square when our mind had difficulty thinking in a logical and coherent way to get the whole picture of the issue, with this last quarter square, the entire weight of understanding crashes our ‘reasonable excuses’. The preconceived stubborn ideas fall out fragmented as we start to make sense of what is needed. The painful acceptance inundates the mind with bothering thoughts; hopefully, we’re moved to incorporate new habits. Recognizing our human fragility is instrumental to encourage our spiritual development. Another issue of Chiron in Aries is the struggle of different groups of society for acceptance, and the right to exist and thrive. Covid19 has also open that Pandora box. With Mercury final square to Chiron, we look for alternative healing methods we hadn’t considered before for all those problems.

At a personal level, especially if you've been affected by the December 2019 Solar Eclipse, your mind today will be in overdrive processing your painful perception of being who you are in the world. You may want to isolate, may feel ostracized or fall into depressive moods. Avoid dwelling in dark or gloomy thoughts. Remember that this is a time to love who you are as you are, and make the best you can with what you are and have. We are all striving to survive in a world that we have made inhospitable. Accepting your wound, you can help others heal.

Make an extra effort to choose your thoughts, to consciously redirect your mental objective to create the environment where you can feel safe, comfortable and loved. Even if there is nobody to love you just as you are, love yourself! Look up to the Stars at night and realize that you are made of the same matter they are. Every cell in your body is made of stardust. As Carl Sagan said, "We are the way for the Cosmos to know itself". We are all looking for and probably finding the meaning in our wound.
